![]() Imaginary AmazonA Poem by Montag![]() ![]() Imaginary Amazon When at last we met (all
other possibilities being exhausted) you
admitted having stored inside your head an
atmospheric river full of dread. I
peeked inside: at jeroboam floating next to tetra fish poker
chips, Egyptian sheets, diet pills and deli meats canticles
chanted over pick-up stix sea
shanty-haunted container ships the
dregs and husks, the wrecks and ruins the disavowals of our affluence ...and a petri dish for life to bloom while
you at home are eating in your room, alone consumed
by the meaning of the telephone. There were long haulers too to
deposit at your feet as if a part of the silt of that mighty river all
these things, flowing (inside your head).
