I Always Had Been

A Poem by Just A Passion For Writing

This was also, for my creative writing class. We were learning how to write metaphor poems.

"

Depression is a riptide pulling me further out.

It held me underwater, letting me struggle for air.

Black was my vision for so long, so I let it become my everything.

I sunk under the waves, letting it crush me.

But my life was light, it had to be.

Grasping to the light streaming in above, I fought.

I fought for my air, I fought for my life.

The riptide was strong, but I was stronger.

I always had been.
