You Could

This was for my creative writing class. We were learning how to write simile poems.

You are as brilliant as the stars that dot the sky, but outshine them on any night

Your smile is brighter and laughter fills more space than the night sky

You could smother the world in inky blackness

You could snuff out the moon and all the stars

But instead you set it alight during the dark times
