Strong of Mind, Weak of Heart

Strong of Mind, Weak of Heart

A Poem by Noah Cole
"

Love within an arm's reach, victory in my mind, failing to act...

"

I am a shadow in the dark

Watching her from afar.

My one true love

Within an arm's reach.

I wonder sometimes

About her life and her thoughts.

I wonder if she realizes

That I truly love her.

We talk and we laugh

Time and time again.

But I wonder sometimes

If we could be more than friends.

But when I see her and approach

I choke on my doubt

My throat freezes up

And I talk as if nothing happened

As if my thoughts never existed.

Where is my strength?

(Note from Feb 2012): To be entirely honest, I just do not like this poem anymore. This is another one from my later high school years, and one that was "inspired" by a crush I had on female friend of mine, as I am sure is obvious to all of you. It was a quick write; a simple poem written more for the emotion than eloquence. There really isn't too much else to say. The simplicity of it is the main thing that bothers me when I read it, I think. Anyway, maybe someone out there liked it, or has some sort of comments; I appreciate any and all thoughts: critiques, suggestions, and analyses. Thanks :)
