Lord of the Flame

Lord of the Flame

A Poem by Noah Cole
"

King of Fire and Flame. Master of all heat.

"

It rises,

A tower of white, glittering heat,

Pillar of flame,

Ladder of fire,

Reaching to the heavans,

Shadows cast,

Shadows mold,

Fire of darkness,

Fire of silhouettes,

Licking at the stars,

He smiles...

Author's Note

Noah Cole
(Note from Feb 2012): This is a poem from my later high school years. While it is obviously a bit simple (at least in structure), I can't help but love what I did with it. Just a bit of background: the idea for this poem came about completely spur-of-the-moment while I was working on rewriting the prologue of my (as of yet, unfinished) first novel. I was playing around with a bit of description for the first scene: some cultists are summoning a demon with a brazier (original, I know). I starting writing the poem just going for some descriptive fire-climbing, when right at the end I decided to add a character. I instantly loved it. While the poem itself is a bit abstract, I enjoyed the fact that this was all I wanted to do with it; it is all that needs to be said. You may agree or disagree, and I would love to hear it. I appreciate any and all thoughts: critiques, suggestions, and analyses. Thanks :)
