Chapter II - The Odd Ones

Chapter II - The Odd Ones

A Chapter by Andrés Danilo Hedkvist Muñoz
"

A new group sets out into our world, what's seen as evil is not always evil.

"

THERE COMES a time when earth shall vanquish, a time when the gates of hell will open up and capture any living sinner on earth. That time is now.

“Men… Demons… Fallen angels… Sinners… We shall walk earth and capture more sinners, for we shall conquer earth and then we shall conquer heaven!” The leader of darkness shouted, Satan, the devil stood up in front of a massive army which consisted of demons.

Every demon shouted, delighted over what they heard, every demon except four, four demons that had other intentions.

“Hmm… Do you think we can do it?” A female vampire asked and the name of the vampire was Ililsa; she turned to a gigantic werewolf named Maravi.

“I think we can, although there is a possibility of releasing the others as well” Maravi replied, Maravi was different from other werewolves, most werewolves transformed during full moon, but Maravi was cursed by a powerful demon once. This caused Maravi to be a werewolf for the rest of his life, in the beginning, Maravi was just like any other werewolf, fierce, wild but in the end someone was able to tame him. It was Ililsa, she somehow managed to capture Maravi and tame Maravi, after a while, Maravi became a lot more human on the inside but he still remained a werewolf on the outside.

“So you guys, what’s the planio!?” a small gargoyle asked, this was the only gargoyle in the team, like Maravi, who was the only werewolf in the team. Although Aili, the gargoyle, sometimes lacked intelligence, was more of a clown than a fighter, but when Aili had to be the strongest one in the group, he became an almost perfect leader.

“Aili, we’re thinking here!” Ililsa replied annoyed.

“Oh, c’mon, I bet ya’ll don’t even have a plan… I know, how ‘bout lettin’ me kill them guards and just… Hihi, just lemme do it, dealio!?”

“No deal, damnit!”

“Evil… You’re not nice!”

“Shut up, Aili!”

Out from the shadows a so called Fiend appeared, it was a dark and vicious creature, known for using darkness as a weapon, known for being able to annihilate a kingdom. This so called Fiend was a bit bigger than gargoyles, this Fiend had no wings, this Fiend was stronger and faster than the gargoyles and this Fiend had a name. Its name was Assadar.

“Aili, please, be silent for a moment. We are currently working on a plan, although I just came up with one” Assadar said. The others turned to him, no one understood, Assadar rarely spoke and he rarely helped with plans, Assadar was the one in the group who did what he was told and he always received the dangerous missions. “Listen carefully: Aili, your little plan was perfect, you go and kill the guards who are guarding the gates of hell. Ililsa, you take out the other demons on the platforms. Maravi, do whatever you can to distract or kill the remaining demons. And I shall be the one opening the gates.”

“Why are you going to open the gates?” Maravi asked, “you know that’s too dangerous, can’t you just use your powers and blow the gates open?”

“I can… But the demons would get out with no trouble at all, you know that the devil has some kind of timer; I can change it so that the gate shuts after a few second. But if I’d set the gate to close after fifteen seconds, the gates would be able to open again in fifteen days… It’s some kind of safety device the devil has built… And I’m going there since the devil trusts me more than you.”

The other ones stared at him, a bit confused, but eventually they all nodded and did what they had been told.

Aili slowly walked to the two massive guards standing next to the gigantic gate, the guards were both knights, well they used to be knights until they died and were sent to hell.

“H-hey you guys… Whatcha doin’, tell me, it’ll be fun!” Aili shouted, the two guards looked at him, and then they looked at each other.

“It’s that annoying little gargoyle… What are we going to do?” one of the knights whispered, the other one turned to him and replied:

“I have no idea… Pretend like we can’t see or hear him.”

“Aw, you guys don’t be like that… I brought you both a gift… Here… Lemme show you!” Aili held his hands up high, although his hands were empty. The first guard looked down, then the guard realized that Aili’s hands were empty, and just like that, a bright flash blinded both guards.

Aili jumped up and ripped the head off of the first guard, the second guard was just about to raise his voice when Aili quickly shot a poisonous arrow through the helmet and into the eye of the other guard.

Ililsa jumped up high, landing on a platform on which undead archers were standing, they turned to Ililsa.

“Hey, beautiful, what are you doin’ up here?” one of the undead asked her, Ililsa turned to him and quickly grabbed his head and slammed it into the ground, crushing it. The other two undead grabbed horns to raise an alarm, but they were too slow for Ililsa smashed their heads together.

She walked to the edge of the platform, looking for Maravi.

Maravi ran into the resting quarters of the templar knights, they were used as last offense because they were immortal, unless they were asleep. But since they were in hell they could be resurrected by Satan anytime he wanted them, or needed them. Maravi moved silently between their beds, slowly placing his hands on the helmets of the sleeping templar knights, once he had a perfect grip he squashed the helmets and what was in them. It was the only fast and almost noiseless way since Maravi had no weapons.

Maravi moved deeper into the room, to a chest which was hidden beneath a blanket and a pair of armors. Maravi opened the chest and found gold, diamonds, sacred weapons and some sacred light armor which could be used in the other world. He grabbed as much as he could for the others and himself, then he left the room and hoped that Satan did not need the knights soon.

Assadar climbed up to the top of a magnificent tower, at the top of the tower there was a room, mostly made by glass. Perfect for Satan to keep an eye out for any intruder and to keep an eye on his minions. Assadar walked up to a control panel, pressing some buttons and watched as the gates of hell slowly opened up. He saw his three friends run through the open gate, he set the timer to shut the gates after 30 seconds, Assadar knew that he had to teleport down to the gates to get out because he was going to have some visitors.

Seconds later, Satan appeared in the room together with three lesser demons.

“Assadar, my friend, what have you done? Going out there to raise hell without me?” Satan smiled, Assadar shook his head.

“I’m truly sorry, my old friend, I have to go, the world beyond those gates is in need of me… Of us, I cannot let you do what you will do in a few days.”

“By the way, Assadar, since you’re getting out, send the others regards from me… I haven’t seen them in quite some time, oh, and another thing… That timer thingy I made, well I have changed a few things so the gates of hell will fully open in two days. Good luck organizing.”

“We’ll need none of your luck, Satan” Assadar said and teleported himself down to the gates and ran out into our world.

First Encounter

The four walked slowly down the mountain side, the gate closing behind them and turning invisible once it was fully closed.

They did not know what waited for them, but they did know one thing, in approximately two days whole hell would break loose. And the result of it would be apocalyptic.

“See that village?” Maravi asked the other ones, the others nodded, Maravi turned to Ililsa, “you look like a human, could you go in there and get some kind of disguise for the rest of us, maybe some shelter…”

The four went quiet as something was moving in a bush in the forest nearby, Aili slowly walked towards the bush.

“It’s only a hairy thing… Look at its ears, why’s it so ugly?!” Aili asked, Ililsa replied:
“It’s a bunny… A small animal living here in the forest.”

“Can I eat it? Does it have flesh? Can I? Please, please, please, please!?” The four went quiet once more as twenty armed men surrounded them.

“Demons…” One of the men said, “We’ve been waiting for you, please, come with us, our master wishes to speak with you.”

Once the group had arrived to the small village at the foot of the mountain they were lead to a small house.

“Please, enter…” One man said. The four entered the little house, or cottage.

Inside there was an old man, lying on a bed, he was dying.

“My… Friends, please… Sit down… I have been… Waiting for you” The old man coughed, he stared at the four who were about to sit down on the floor next to the old man’s bed.

“I know that… You are not human, or that you once were… You have a mission… You must help save this world… They cannot do it alone, you must help them… This war which will break loose is bigger than you can ever imagine… Travel to Egypt, take whatever you want from this village… But make it to Egypt before sunrise…” The old man took his last breath before going silent, dead. The four sat there by the side of his bed, quiet.

“So… What will we do now?” Aili asked, Assadar stood up, first staring at the dead old man, then staring at the group.

“What the old man said is true, I knew him… He created me, he was my father… Science and magic gave birth to a new breed of demons, Fiend’s, but only one of us became what he wanted, it was me, I was the one who had the heart and soul to break free from Satan one day, he created me and sent me to hell to meet you for he knew that you would help me save the world from what will happen… We must get to Egypt, if am I right, the old man’s laboratory should be in this house, all of you, go get supplies, I will find the lab and cook up some spells to teleport us to Egypt… I cannot teleport all of us together, I am not that strong… Yet.”

The others left the cottage, looking for food, water, some kind of weapon and light armor. The three returned to the cottage, Assadar was gone.

“Where did he go, he just disappeared? How cool, can he teach me?” Aili shouted as he jumped around in the cottage, eventually falling down into a hole, Maravi and Ililsa jumped down into the hole where they found a laboratory containing books about science and books about different kinds of magic.

“I have now made a potion which will amplify my powers for a short while, it should be long enough for me to teleport us to Egypt!” Assadar shouted, when he noticed that the other three were standing behind him.

“What if it won’t last long enough?” Maravi asked, Assadar turned around once more.

“We would get stuck between two dimensions, that would happen… Now, all of you, close your eyes, this might sting a bit.”

Assadar drank the potion, in a flash his powers were enhanced tremendously, his eyes were glowing red, his muscles grew in size, and his claws went sharper just as his teeth. He raised his arms, and from his feet a dark mist slowly grew, covering the floor and surrounding the other three as well as Assadar himself. The mist grabbed a hold of the four and squeezed them, the three screamed in pain except Assadar.

The mist disappeared, and with it, the four.

It did not take long for them to reappear in a distant country, in Egypt, where they were about to meet those who will change the world forever.
