The Monks

It was dusk and there was something in the air which made it hard to breathe, some sort of gas maybe?

It could be, although the three monks knew it wasn’t any gas, it was an enemy which was hidden somewhere in the desert. Although their enemy was far away; they still could hear him, their stamina was almost excellent and so was their strength. These monks could easily break any object with their bare hands, these three monks were specialized in hand-to-hand combat and that was the one thing that made them extremely dangerous. These monks had lived a life, a rough life. These monks were blind; they had all gotten their eyelids stitched together because of a battle they once lost.

The enemy had captured them and stitched the eyelids together, and then their enemy left them to die in the jungle which was not far away from the enemy’s camp. The thing is the monks knew what to do when they were blind, and they used their hearing and sniffing to find their target. They were like dogs, except they could hold a weapon when they needed and they knew how to fight.

The shortest monk stopped and turned to his companions, they stopped when they hear him stop.

“My brothers, I do believe our enemy is behind those great walls… We must get past those cliffs, we must be careful for those cliffs are ancient and can collapse at any time” Unaduti said, he was the shortest one of the monks, but he was the fastest one as well.

The tallest one turned to Unaduti.

“Brother, don’t be naïve, those walls… Those cliffs have been there for centuries, there’s no reason for them to collapse when we walk through then” Kulakinah said, Kulakinah was the tallest one and therefore he was the strongest one, his blows were devastating but of course, since he has been focused on practicing fighting styles, he has become a slow thinker. But he is still a good man to have in a team of three.

Then the last monk turned to them both.

“No need to argue, brothers. Kulakinah, your brother is right… We must move with caution through the path which leads through those cliffs… I know that both of you are eager to fight our very powerful enemies, but we must wait for dawn before we launch our attack” Sequoyah told them as he pointed towards the cliffs, he was not the tallest one, nor the shortest one, he was the medium tall monk. What he was not strong or fast but he was the most intelligent of the three monks.

The three monks only had one problem; since they were blind they had some trouble with making gestures as pointing and waving, and since they were standing in the open – Pointing and arguing, they did not notice the sniper standing on the cliff, aiming at them.

“Furthermore, brothers, there’s a sniper on the cliff not far away… It seems like our indiscrete gestures made him spot us right here in the open” Sequoyah told them, and just like that they started to move faster than the wind which was making clouds of sand in the desert.

Bang, bang, bang – The sniper fired frantically and eventually, the three monks which were getting closer to the cliff, noticed that the sniper was starting to panic. The sniper did not really aim anymore, he just took a quick look into his scope and shot anything that was moving, and the sniper even shot a bird.

Kulakinah ran towards the cliff, the fastest he could, but it did not take long for him to realize that Unaduti was almost there.

Unaduti came closer and closer to the massive cliff, here came the tricky part, the only way to stop the sniper was to get up on top of the cliffs. Unaduti ran faster and faster and then he got to the foot of the cliff, because of his speed, he managed to get a grip on the cliff wall and run upwards the cliff wall.

The sniper saw a cloud of dust travelling towards him from the foot of the cliff, the dust cloud came closer, and then the dust cloud disappeared. The sniper was standing in the middle of the dust cloud, he could not see anything and he did not dare to move since he was afraid to fall off the cliff. Sequoyah, Unaduti and Kulakinah were hiding in the dust cloud. None of them moved a muscle, they did not even breathe. Kulakinah sneaked up behind the sniper, and gently touched the snipers left shoulder.

“Ah!” the sniper shouted, took a step back and then he fell off the cliff head first.

The three monks walked on the cliff, next to its edges just in case they for some reason had to jump down. The three monks noticed that there was a readymade path, although walking on it was risky, since it would lead straight into the lair of the enemy.

“Something’s wrong… It’s too quiet… Not one single sound… No barking from the dogs, no men walking around guarding… No kids playing, oh God!” Unaduti ran as fast as he could to the village where their enemy probably was hiding, but Unaduti was in such hurry that he ended up tripping on a corpse; it was a middle aged man which had been hit in the heart by an arrow.

“Oh dear…” Unaduti was silenced; because he felt a single sharp arrow gently touch his neck, “who are you? Tell me who you are, stranger and you won’t get hurt, I promise… And who trained you? Since neither my brothers nor I could hear you kill these people… Tell me” Unaduti said with a low voice. He heard the man grunt and he heard his fellow monk brothers stop right next to him.

“I do not wish to fight, since you’re blind let me tell you something about myself… I’m as tall as Sequoyah, as fast as Unaduti, even faster… I’m stronger than Kulakinah… I’m smarter than Sequoyah, I killed everyone in this village because I have something to ask, and we’re running out of time” the man paused, “I am called the Angel of Death and I am… But the time is running out, so I’m asking you to do what you’ve sworn to do over eight hundred years ago… The gates of hell have opened up and demons are starting to gather at sacred places on this earth, and heaven has sent a few guardians to earth to help protect it… But the guardians are as reliable as a normal trooper, the guardians are already dead.”

“You already know our answer… We will help, we swore an oath to help when the world is in need” Sequoyah said and nodded.

The Thief

The dusk, one of the three most beautiful things a thief knew about.

The first thing was of course loot, it was valuable to a master thief.

The second thing was the night; it was the natural cloaking for this master thief.

And the third thing was of course dusk, it was a proof that the next mission was close, or the next robbery was just a stone throw away.

“Dagger, check. Bludgeon, check. Flash grenades, check. Short sword, check. Poisoned darts, check. Short bow, check. Stiletto, check” the thief made sure his cap was well placed and that it’s dark shadow covered his face.

His cap was once blessed by a powerful wizard known as Constantine, eight hundred years ago they had been partners, eventually Constantine died but his body was never found. Before Constantine and the thief were going to their last battle together, the wizard cast a spell on the thief’s cap. The cap’s shadow covered the thief’s face, and the shadow was impenetrable, this shadow covered the thief’s face. But it had a price; the cap makes the thief move slower because the shadow makes less sound enter. Which means the thief has problem hearing his own steps, so he must move slower when sneaking up on someone, he is slower when it comes to walking but he is still one of the best sword fighters.

The thief was sitting on a long tree branch; he had great vision over the house to which he was going to break into. He slowly scanned the house with his eyes, it was crucial for him not to miss any detail, one mistake and he would be killed.

The house was like a pair of stairs; his objective was at the top part of the house. The house consisted of five floors; the first floor was the biggest part, and obviously, it was the one place with the generators and vehicles, but the thing with this floor was… It was underground, so it was basically the basement or the garage, but the owner of this house classified that part as the first floor.

The second floor was the floor which contained about twenty guards, armed guards. And that was the only floor which had the alarm button in case something would go wrong. And it was the main entrance as well.

The third floor, the automated turrets which were activated in case of an emergency, let’s say rivals storming into the house and the guards can’t scare them off so the turrets activates as soon as someone who’s unauthorized would accidentally enter that room. Of course to get to the fourth floor that’s the only way through, and empty room, with hidden turrets.

Fourth floor contains three guards just in case, those three guards are heavily armed and are specialized in hand-to-hand combat, that room is the so called gaming room it’s used for entertainment only. Gambling, gaming and watching sports on a big TV.

Then the fifth floor which has the area compared to the other floors, but this room only contains two important things. The bed on which the victim sleeps and the vault which contains a small amount of cash and a huge amount of precious loot.

The thief jumped from his tree branch and landed in a small bush close to the house, he pressed his back towards the wall and moved slowly to the main entrance of the house. He gently pushed the door bell then he ran away, from a nearby window he saw the guards move to the door and taking aim just in case there would be a hostile, while these guards were busy guarding the door, the thief started climbing up the rain gutter which was next to the window. He heard the guards open the main door.

“What the hell is going on?” a guard whispered “it’s got to be one of those damn kids!”

The thief was climbing up the rain gutter with ease and as well as fast as he could without making any sound, he was past the third floor but once he came to the fourth floor he realized he had to enter and fight the guards to get to the next floor.

Stealthy, quiet, the thief lock picked the lock of the window, he entered. One of the guards was in the bathroom; the second guard was playing some poker alone. And the last guard was playing watching football with the volume almost turned to max.

“CAN YOU TURN THE VOLUME DOWN A BIT…? I CAN’T FOCUS!” the guard who was playing poker by himself got annoyed because of the high volume.

“I CAN’T HEAR YOU… THE VOLUME IS TOO HIGH!” the other guard responded, he didn’t turn down the volume though; he just kept on watching the game. Just as the other guard, who was playing poker, was going to walk up to him and bash him in the head something happened.

The thief had stabbed the guard in the neck with the stiletto.

“SCORE, DID YOU SEE THAT GOAL!?” the other guard shouted, he got no response; he turned around and saw his friend dead, “what the hell?” he saw the thief in the corner, just as the guard drew his gun to fire one round he got the stiletto between his eyes.

The last guard walked out of the bathroom.

“CAN YOU TURN DOWN THE VOLUME, I COULDN’T HEAR MYSELF TAKE A S**T!” the last guard shouted, just when he was done with the sentence the thief snuck up from his left and sliced his throat with the short sword.

The thief ran up the stairs into the bedroom where he saw the man laying on the bed, dead, and the vault was open but untouched.

“You are indeed a great thief, John, but tell me… Were you aware of me?” the man asked. John, the thief turned around and noticed that the man had somehow snuck up behind him.

“I believe it’s time for us to gather, right…? That’s why you’re here isn’t it?” John asked.

“Yes, you’ve been waiting for eight hundred years and your time to shine is now… Travel to Egypt, you know where to go” then the man disappeared but John could still hear the man whisper “but be aware… They’re on to all of you!”

The Samurais and the Ninjas

“We were all created for a purpose… Our purpose is to protect those we love” the leader Nishiken said, he turned to his group which consisted three other samurais.

Nishiken was the tallest and the strongest one, he had lost an eye in a battle which occurred over eight hundred years ago. Nishiken was bald, one dark brown eye and a major scar which stretched from his forehead, over his left eye and down to the left cheek.

He stared at Michio, there was no exchange of words, but Michio knew what was going to happen.

Michio was the youngest of the samurais; he was approximately 18 years old. He had tall brown hair, brown eyes and he was quite skinny, but he was the fastest one.

Kiyoshi and Katsuoshi were twins; no other samurai could handle a weapon like they could.

Michio picked up his spear and got ready, Kiyoshi decided to climb up to a tree where he had excellent view of the landscape, he got his longbow ready.

Nishiken and Katsuoshi pulled their Katana’s from their sheaths and got ready.

“Remember, these ninjas are good… And they know our weakness… Katsuoshi, if they’d fire a burning arrow, what will you do?” Nishiken asked, and as he suspected he got the answer he wanted.

“Dodge the arrow… Master, I don’t understand why our weapons can’t stand fire, can’t we just cut the arrow with our Katana’s?!”

“Because our weapons are just as us, we can’t stand too much heat either, or we’ll burn, but we can handle a certain amount of heat, and since our weapons are blessed with a part of our souls… The weapons will be as vulnerable as we are.”

They got quiet when they heard Kiyoshi had fired one arrow, they noticed that Kiyoshi was aiming at something, he was shooting too accurate.

“What are you doing?” Nishiken asked Kiyoshi as he slowly climbed up the tree stem, once up he noticed that Kiyoshi had made a smiley by shooting, or wasting, arrows accurately.  Kiyoshi turned to Nishiken and received a slap at the back of his head, “fool” Nishiken added, and then he jumped down from the tree. While in mid air he got hit by a Kunai, straight in the leg.

Katsuoshi managed to save Nishiken from landing head first, it could be lethal since none of the samurais were using a helmet.

“A Kunai… Only one of them uses a Kunai… It must’ve been Makoto!” Katsuoshi exclaimed, a few seconds later, Kiyoshi fell from the tree with a shuriken stuck on his chest piece, “it’s definitely Makoto!”

Ra-ta-ta-ta-ta! The sound echoed through the dark, misty forest.

“Soldiers, it cannot be, this forest is a secret, no one but us and the others know about it!” Michio shouted, just like that, a thick smoke filled the area, the sound came closer.

RA-TA-TA-TA-TA!

Michio felt a powerful hit against his torso, and then he fell to the ground unconscious.

“It’s not any soldiers… It’s Renjiro, he’s using those firecrackers!”Katsuoshi alerted his other friends, although because of the thick smoke, he couldn’t see that they were out of the game.

Just like that, Katsuoshi was out of the game as well, he had been hit in the head with a rock. A rock who Kame had thrown.

Kame was the only female of the ninjas; she was slim and fast. She was the most vicious of the three ninjas, the other two ninjas were males and they were best friends. Both Makoto and Renjiro were slim and fast, but what made these three ninjas so different was the fact that they were friends with the samurais which they had just taken down. No other group of ninjas had allies who were samurais and vice versa.

Kame had tall dark hair and sky blue eyes. Makoto and Renjiro had both shaved their heads; both of them had dark brown eyes.

“Wake up you guys… Someone wants to speak to you… Us I mean” Kame said as she was poking the samurais who were tied up together.

“Damn… We lost this training again?” Katsuoshi murmured as he slowly touched the back of his head where he had gotten the rock.

“I thought you samurais had gotten the blessing to be able to stand even the cruelest of attacks, what happened to that?” Makoto asked the samurais as he was helping Michio up on his feet.

“Yeah, we were blessed… Against real weapons, not rocks or anything which isn’t a real weapon!” Michio replied, and then they all got silent as they realized their master was watching them, “I’m sorry for not noticing you, master… It won’t happen again.”

“Silence, I understand why you didn’t notice me… I have trained very hard to become invisible… Anyway, my children, the time is now. You have been training and waiting for over eight hundred years; a messenger from hell revealed himself to me and told me that your time has come… You shall travel to Egypt to join the others and there the real journey shall start, go now, my children, I believe in you” the sensei said then he vanished, the ninjas and samurais didn’t say anything, they took off at high speed, running as fast as they could.

The Three Assassins

“We have five targets… The main target is in the building, we have the other three targets which must be eliminated. Remember, kill the soldiers first, then I will go in and eliminate the last target” Azim told the other two assassins, Gaetan and Jerome who were standing behind him and examining the blueprint.

Azim was tall, strong, had a soft tan, brown eyes, wears a grey robe which has blood red stripes on the back, he’s got two special daggers called Katar.

“I hope we get to split the money equally, Azim, or we’ll hunt you down as we did the first time!” Gaetan exclaimed, Gaetan had a light grey hair, grey eyes and he, just like Azim, was tall and fast.

“Oh, guys, c’mon… That was over eight hundred years ago, I had to eat, I was poor… We Arabs had it rough during that time!” Azim replied.

“Bullshit, you were one of the richest men who lived by that time; I don’t even know why you joined us back then… And hey, wait a minute… Those soldiers you were talking about, what weapons do they use?” Jerome asked, as he stared out through the window, he was staring at one of the church towers on which one soldier were standing.

“Obviously they’re using snipers since I don’t think it would be that easy to shoot a man from a church tower with an AK, or what do you think, Italian boy… Gaetan, wake up!” Azim hit Gaetan in the head with the blueprint which Azim had rolled together.

“Don’t tell me, tell the Spaniard!” Gaetan replied angrily.

“F**k off… On my passport it says American, I mean, I used to be a Spaniard ages ago, I got to take part of a historic moment!” Jerome told them.

“Just because you killed rednecks and invaded a new country doesn’t mean it’s a historical event.”

“It is a historical event, I tell you… Didn’t you go to school, Gaetan?”

“I did, Jerome… Anyway, back to the plan, kill the snipers while you go in and kill the guy, am I right Azim?”

“Yes, Gaetan, you’re right… So here’s the plan: We all turn invisible, Gaetan, you kill the men in the church tower while you, Jerome, since you’re the fastest one. Kill the man on the roof, then as fast as you can get to the other roof… It’s only around… Three hundred yards away, you can jump there if you want to.”
“Azim, are you crazy? You really think I can jump three hundred yards?”

“I’m not crazy; I know you can do it… I’ve seen you run and jump before; you could easily jump five hundred if you wanted to… C’mon, that is your gift, use it!”

“Fine… I’ll do it.”

The three of them left the small apartment, Gaetan headed to the Riverside Church which was located in New York, while Jerome jumped to buildings which were a few yards away from the church, although a few yards was about two hundred yards.

Azim turned invisible and entered the Riverside Church, the man whom he was supposed to kill was a religious fanatic and he had to die for some reason (Some assassins like these three hardly ever care why they’re supposed to kill someone if there’s a lot of money involved).

Gaetan was now at the foot of the church, he had turned invisible by the time he had left the apartment. Gaetan did what he knew best, he started to climb up the church wall, perfect grip. He started to climb faster as he noticed that the limousine was getting closer, the man was inside the limo. Gaetan’s mission was to kill two men who were in the tower, those two men, or snipers were keeping an eye on the two other snipers, as well as they were keeping an eye on the man in the limo.

Jerome was jumping across the rooftops, he did it fast and he did it with style, as he noticed the man on the roof who was holding a sniper; Jerome pulled his trident dagger from his sheath and threw it. A perfect hit, the dagger went through the snipers spine and throat. Jerome pulled the dagger out from the corpse and then he made a massive jump, he jumped three hundred yards and missed the other sniper.

Luckily, the sniper didn’t even notice Jerome, but now the only thing Jerome could do was to act fast, he had to take the sniper out. If he would fail then the sniper would kill Azim, the sniper was using an infra red scope, so he could see any human in the church, if Azim would even get close to the victim, then the sniper would fire a single bullet and take Azim down.

It was all about teamwork, Gaetan had to kill the snipers in the church tower before they notice that the other snipers are dead, Jerome had to kill the remaining sniper and then Azim had to kill the main guy.

Azim got closer to the victim, slowly he walked around the church, but he always came closer.

Jerome was climbing up the wall; it was just a matter of seconds now.

Azim got closer and closer, now he was just a few meters away from the main target.

Jerome was a few meters away from the sniper, Jerome walked silently and slowly. Jerome silently pulled his dagger out from his sheath. That was when Jerome noticed that the sniper was taking aim.

“Oh f**k” Jerome whispered, and somehow the sniper heard him.

“What the!?” the sniper got silenced since he had just gotten a dagger pierced through his throat.

Azim got his Katar ready, he was just about to stab the man in the back when the man turned around and hit Azim in the stomach.

“You wouldn’t stab a friend, now would you, Azim?” the tall man asked. Azim looked up, shocked.

“Y-you… I guess or time is now, isn’t it, friend?”

“Yes, your time to shine is now, but hurry, you must travel to Egypt and fast, the others are on your tail” the man told Azim before he disappeared in a cloud of smoke.

The Wizards

“Juvenal, hurry up… We must get out of here before this place collapses!” Constantine shouted, Juvenal turned around and stared at Constantine.

“Why are you afraid, we can control elements, remember?” Juvenal stated.

“I know we can, but I do not believe that either you or me can old this mountain up forever!”
“I know we can’t hold it up forever, Constantine, but we can control the elements, which means that we can rebuild whatever that is missing… Whatever that is causing this mountain to collapse.”

“Are we going to do it or should we just stand here and let it all fall on top of us!?”

Juvenal picked up his staff from the ground, the he made a circle on the ground. Juvenal sat down in the circle and then he started to speak in Latin. It was a special spell.

“Incendia, aqua, terra, lux lucis, obscurum. Suo nos, fio unus nobis quod restituo detrimentum!” Juvenal whispered, and it didn’t take long for Constantine to do the same.

After a few seconds the mountain, or the cave, stopped shaking. Everything got quiet.

“Do you think it worked?” Constantine asked after a moment of silence.

“It did repair the damage that we had caused… But I have a feeling that we accidentally summoned a few demons.” Juvenal stood up and looked into the darker parts of the tunnel, “we should move… Run now!”
Constantine didn’t ask, he ran as fast as he could, and Juvenal was right behind him.

“I thought that spell was meant to repair and undo things… Not summoning demons!” Constantine shouted while running.

“It was supposed to summon both darkness and light, that way neither of them would win. But I guess light didn’t want to be summoned this time, so darkness entered!” Juvenal replied while looking back, making sure that the demons of darkness wasn’t going to get them.

“Fire, water, earth, light, darkness. Join us, become one with us and repair the damage!” Constantine whispered as he ran, “that spell didn’t do jack s**t!”

“Don’t you think I’ve noticed… And hey, Constantine, you’re the one who’s good at controlling the darkness!”

“But I can’t remember the correct words… Let me think!”
“Hello, we’re being chased by demons of darkness, you don’t have time to think, just say something!”
“And make this even worse, forget it!”

“Constantine, hurry, I can feel their claws!”

“Darkness is my friend, darkness is not my enemy. I control the darkness, darkness will save me.”

“Constantine… They don’t know English!”

“Obscurum est meus amicus, obscurum est non meus hostilis. Ego imperium obscurum, obscurum mos servo mihi.” And just like that, the demons of darkness disappeared, “OK, now, Juvenal, you know the drill. Light doesn’t like me when I control the darkness, so now it’s your turn to save my a*s from those creatures of light!”

“You mean angels!?” Juvenal started to slow down as he realized that he was safe, although Constantine wasn’t.

“Yeah, those things, creatures… Demons!” Constantine was still running, and he didn’t care that Juvenal had stopped.

“You’re aware of anything made of darkness is a demon and what’s made out of light is something good.”

“I don’t give a s**t; just make sure those things of light won’t get me!”

“Light will save me and protect my friends, light will not attack the enemy.”

“Juvenal, you said that they don’t understand English!”

“Lux lucis mos servo mihi quod servo meus amicitia, lux lucis mos non tentatio hostes hostium.” A something illuminated the cave for a few seconds, and then it got dark again.

“If you would’ve waited a few more seconds then I would’ve been done for.”

Slowly they walked out of the cave and then they sat down just outside the cave entrance.

“So… You guys haven’t really learned to control your powers although a bit more than eight hundred years have passed” The mysterious voice whispered.

“Yeah, well you’re still sneaking around being all invisible like the older days so you haven’t really learnt anything new either” Juvenal replied.

“I know, Juvenal… You guys haven’t changed a bit, except that you have both grown white hair, but still no beard… Tall as always, how come you boys haven’t got any girlfriends?”
“That’s not why you came here; tell us, have the gates of hell opened up yet?”
“Yes, they’re wide open, you must travel to Egypt to reunite with the others, and Constantine, you’ll meet a good ol’ friend of yours. But remember, the others are still chasing you.” Then the voice faded away and everything got quiet and peaceful once more.

The Mercenaries

“Listen you hairy monkeys, you do as I say, I don’t give a s**t if you’re mercenaries or not!” the sergeant shouted.

“Listen, we were just hired to go in there and kill those Iraqi soldiers, and you do know what a mercenary is, right?” Jason replied with a dark, hoarse voice.

“Well a mer-“
“A mercenary is a soldier which you can hire, unlike your troopers which get killed ever second, got it, sarge!?” Keria yelled, of course, both Keira and Jason were pissed since it was in the middle of the day and they were in Iraq. The sun was burning; both Jason and Keira had forgotten their sunglasses at the camp so it was hard for them to see in the desert.

Keira was an average tall female; she was tall, slim and had long red hair, green eyes. And she was aggressive, a killer, she was dangerous when it came to hand to hand combat. But worthless when it came to the use of real weapons.

On the other hand, John was a killer as well, but he sucked at hand to hand, but he was great at melee combat. A.k.a. combat with his weapons, he was a master at aiming but both Jason and Keira suffered from the same “disease” when they got mad they could easily just go havoc and shoot anyone who got in their way.

Jason was a bit taller than Keira, he was a muscle pack, but he wasn’t fast. They complement each other; some people even stated that they were the perfect couple. The majority of the people who made that statement ended up at the hospital with a broken jaw.

Keira got in the jeep and Jason got in the passenger seat.
“Drive you crazy bit- I mean girl, drive!” Jason shouted, he looked at Keira and she looked back with anger in her eyes, “you know it was a joke, right?”
Keira opened the passenger door and kicked Jason out of the jeep. While Jason tried to get up Keira attacked him and started to beat him up in the sand.

Jason however, couldn’t do anything since she was his partner and he wasn’t really allowed to hit girls.

“I’m sorry, I’M SORRY!” he yelled, Keira didn’t stop, but eventually Jason managed to push her away, Jason ran in to the jeep and started it once more. Keira was faster and pulled him out from the jeep when suddenly…
Boom!

The jeep exploded, Jason and Keira turned to what was left of the jeep, and it had been hit by something that looked like a ball of fire. That ball of fire came from the other side of the hills, Jason and Keira ran as fast as they could to check what it was, on the other side of that sandy hill there was a massive hole.

“Some new kind of weapon?” Keira asked.

“I don’t see why the Iraqi’s would test a weapon like that on their own soldiers, I mean… Our base wasn’t even that far away!”

“Base, come in” Keira used her satellite phone to contact base. She only heard static, nothing else; she tried once more, still only static, “they’re gone.”

“It seems like you two are the last ones of the US soldiers… Oh I’m sorry, you’re merc’s. But I don’t care, I know you guys have nothing to do with this but I’d like your help… If you agree I can take you to Egypt where you’ll be safe for a while” a whispering was heard in the empty desert, Jason and Keira looked around to see if they could see anyone at all. It was empty, just Jason, Keira, a few burned bodies and a massive hole in the ground.

“What should we say?” Jason asked.
“It would be nice if you’d say ‘yes’, after all, you’re stuck out here and only I can get you guys back!”
“Well I have a satellite phone, I can call HQ with it!”
“Oh can you now?”

“Yes, I can… And I will… Do it… Now… F**k I’m out of batteries, and I forgot the other ones at base!”

“Still want to die out here?”

“Fine, if it gets us out of here, then we’ll do it!”

“Splendid!”

A bright light surrounded the two mercenaries and after a few seconds they were in Egypt. The two mercenaries where astonished and shocked, none of them believed what had just happened. They looked around, they were in Egypt, and they just couldn’t believe it.

“Something’s wrong” Jason said with a hoarse voice, Keira just looked back at him, giving him a look as if she was telling him You’re an idiot.

“So what’s wrong then, Jason?”
“Well... First of all… The Great Sphinx of Giza, its head is missing!” And Jason was right; there was only a hole left where the head used to be. Something had burnt a hole right through the head of the sphinx; while Jason was analyzing the sphinx Keira was doing something else.

She got her high-tech binoculars from her backpack and started to check the desert. After a few seconds Keira saw a light, the same light which had sent Jason and Keira to Egypt.

The light disappeared in a cloud of sand but eventually she saw that something appeared from the cloud of sand, another human.

Jack stood up, looking around the desert which seemed quite empty; he gazed at the sun, then at his watch. He noticed that he wasn’t in the US anymore.

After looking around he noticed the Great Sphinx of Giza, and he noticed its head was gone… Then he noticed that there were two people standing close to it… And he noticed that one of them was looking at him. Jack got his binoculars from his pocket and zoomed in two whoever it was who was watching him. It was a female; Jack waved and noticed that the woman waved as well. Jack gave her the finger and he saw how she gave him the finger as well. The Jack took his vest of and held it up high, trying to show his US patch, the female did the same, and she showed Jack her US patch. But Jack wasn’t convinced that she was friendly, he held his weapons up so that the female could see them, the female did the same with her weapons, so did the man next to the female.

“Holy s**t… They’re merc’s…” Jack told himself, after hesitating for a few seconds he decided to join them, see if they knew anything.

“He’s coming to join us, I believe” Jason said, Keira didn’t answer, she nodded and waited for the male. When the male was close enough Keira gave the male her hand. The male shook Keira’s hand, and then he shook Jason’s hand.

“My name is Jack, I’m a merc. Just like you guys… Do you know what the f**k’s going on?”

“I am Keira; this is my partner Jason… And no, we don’t know what’s going on. We got here the same way you did.”
“Where were you before you got here?”
“I was beating the crap out of Jason in Iraq.”
“OK, I see… I was in my apartment, ready to go out on a mission… That’s why I have my things with me… I never ever leave them.”

“So where’s your apartment, Jack?”

“LA, US, you know where that is, I hope.”

Keira giggled then turned around, “we’ll have to walk from here I think… And hope that we’ll find whatever we were sent here for.”

The three of them took off, walking in the desert, looking for their goal.
