The Unknown Man

The Unknown Man

A Poem by Andrés Danilo Hedkvist Muñoz

A man was walking down an empty street
In an empty city
Filled with empty homes

This man was walking for no reason at all
A reason was not needed
Because he did not want one

Alone on the path he was
Behind him there was an empty city
An empty city set ablaze
An empty city, cold and desolate

This man was fighting a war
A war he had won
A war that will not stop

This man was alone in this war
A one man army
This man fought because no one else would
Such a silly thing
Such a silly reason to wage a war

This man was in love
Is in love
Was
This man fought for his love
To retreive her
To get her back from heaven

He wanted her
He needed her
He was lost and lonely without her
He was cold and dead without her
He was a beast, an animal, a killer without her

With her he was immortal
With her was alive
With her he had a heart
With her he was human

But now, he is just walking down an empty road
To the next empty city
To find the one he wants
The one he needs
This man is still in love
For always
