A Dilatorious Holiday

A Dilatorious Holiday

Dysania tethers me in recumbence

this wasting canicular morn
I can tarry a-bed no longer
dillydallying in lumpish torpor

Languorously ambling heavy-footed
drawn by th’wafting fragrant aroma
of blissful viand, my morning repast
imbibing deep my “Sweet Addiction”

Thus fortified to subdue elflock
invigorated by plashing toilette
rejuvenated in the shower’s flow
braced now to seize this holiday

Draped in my boho habiliments
Titian locks fetchingly coiffed
easel and paint box in hand
forsake this squalid auberge

Step out into the clearing smur
after an early dawn mizzle
opening to reveal the cerulean sky
over a distant cumatical sea

Petrichor’s unmistakable perfume
of summer parched earth relieved
and susurrus or shore rushing waves

proffers inspiration for my artist’s soul

Next time it mizzles I am going to go outside and stand in it...see what it feels like.
Torpor is one of my favorite words.
I try to get my students to use a thesaurus...but most won't bother to extend their vocabs...what they do texting is usually enough for them. This is a humorous look at what most are missing.
