Become Hope

This world’s anxious winds blow

with its dismal tales of woe

in days of doubt and fear

most wretched are we souls here

seeing no light ahead

only drear darkness and dread

And yet…

In soul drudgery dark

whispers a song like the lark

faint light from the dark throng

raises a small voice in song

It rings and gently chimes

recall of happier times

Light shines…

Tiny gestures ignite

love and kindness bring light

Moments of bravery

shine justice and empathy

Those moments together

flow forth, pile up, spill over

Hope flows…

Rushing like a river

light setting souls aquiver

a bright flame shining forth

shining hope becomes true north

Souls together will rise

Become hope for the world’s eyes
