Your poem is a beautiful tribute to the joys of reading and the magic of books. I love the way you describe the physicality of a book, from the "creaking of the binding" to the "weight in your hands." The way you describe the book as a "barrier from humdrum now" is particularly striking, as it suggests a sense of escape and adventure that is hard to come by in our everyday lives. I also appreciate the way you describe the experience of reading a book as "sinking into its pages" and "reveling in the smell of it," as it speaks to the sensory pleasures that books offer. The final stanza, where you exclaim "Books...books...Oh! More books!" is especially delightful, as it captures the joy and excitement that comes from discovering new stories and worlds. Overall, I think this poem is a wonderful celebration of the power of literature to transport us to new places and inspire us to see the world in new ways.

I'm with you on this subject. I love reading and I love holding that book in my hand. Of late I have been reading Dorothy Sayers mysteries with Lord Peter Whimsey. I am a sucker for a good mystery. Nice one my friend, this was fun to read.
No reviews of this? Shameful.
I absolutely love this poem. With all the kindle stuff out, ebooks, Ipads etc.
more looking at screens...I still buy books...I want to feel it in my hand, turn the pages...
put the book back on the shelf...technology is great for some things....
taking away actual books with real covers, pages and bindings is not one of them.
