Your poem is a heart-wrenching depiction of the devastating impact of war on innocent civilians, particularly mothers and children. The way you describe the "mother's tears" flowing and marking tracks in ash is particularly poignant, as it suggests a sense of grief and loss that is hard to comprehend. I also appreciate the way you use language to convey a sense of chaos and destruction, as in the line "bombs rained down." The second stanza, where you describe the "ash and blood on tiny cheeks," is especially moving, as it speaks to the senseless violence and suffering that so many innocent children are forced to endure. The final stanza, where you describe the mother taking up arms, is a powerful commentary on the cycle of violence and the way that war perpetuates itself. Overall, I think this poem is a powerful call to action, urging us to do everything we can to prevent war and protect innocent lives.

Thank you so much. I deeply honored you discerned the intent I wanted to convey in every line.

I just saw that purple bear, and with the images broadcast around the world from the war, the words just came pour out onto the page.
I think maybe the worst thing is thinking of the mothers. Ukrainian mothers who'll never hold their children to their bosom again. Russian mothers of 15,000 Russian dead soldiers… mothers' sons killed in a war by mothers defending their homeland. Russian mothers who likely cannot even claim the bodies of their fallen sons because their government denies their deaths to world.
