The fetid promise: So much winning… 

Our pleading cry: Are we done winning yet? 

America’s next deadly inning

Surpass one hundred thousand lost lives debt

How many of covid yet to die

In these enumerable days to come

Because they choose the vile, arrant lie 

Stupidity under the regime’s thumb

 

With ev-ery fact denying voice

The foul regime demonstrates morbidly…

Stupid is a choice… a killing choice

In starkest proof that stupid is deadly

In this unrelenting pandemic 

They open up with glee and howling greed…

Proving with untold deaths endemic…

Weaponized stupidity against need…

One hundred thousand… morbidity

Of death and yet more death weighs heavily

While they choose willful stupidity

Their cold killing choice… Stupid is deadly

I liked this when I read it on your page:) society is a well trained bunch of lemmings these days dear Mom one must slap critical thought into them constantly it can be a very tiring task unfortunatly many will die for the lack of common sense but we can only do so much:/

Thanks, Robert. Yeah, it's disheartening how little common sense we humans seem to have, and how easy what little we have is abandoned when it makes us the teensiest bit uncomfortable.

Your poem reminds me of when we crossed that 100,000 threshold & a friend of mine did a rant about it on FB, but here we are almost at 180,000 so quickly. That number, ticking up like it does constantly, at 1000 a pop, it really brings me down in a big way & even more so becuz nobody ever mentions it, as if seemingly it's not on very many minds. This poem gives it the attention it deserves & which it should be getting day after day. Sometimes I put the day's death toll at the end of one of my FB postings on totally different topics, just to remind people. I love the stupidity part of this message, too. It just kills me how stupid the people sound who blow off good judgment with ridiculous BS like mockingbirds for their king (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you so much. The Mother's Day poem was written when we passed that 100K mark.

Did we ever think we'd be in such dire straits? I certainly never did. I post the death toll on my FB too, every few days. I've noticed the toll seems to be accelerating. 😭
