Beautiful love story. Sort of like a rags to riches, figuratively speaking. My sincere wishes for a forever love with Hamid.

We're coming up on our 28th anniversary soon… and every single day still finds us deeper in love and devoted to each other. All the true joy I've known in my life has been with him. I wish that for every person in the world.
Your poem speaks to me of how we can feel great about a person when it's just me & that other person, but then when other people get involved, they can plant seeds of doubt. Some people have encouraging friends & some people have friends who are waiting to poke holes in everything. I like how your two different verses contrast, as far as the confidence levels (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This is actually a before and after personal history. The first verse is the reality of my life before I learned what true loyalty and love were meant to be when I found them in my husband. All the joys I've known in my life have been with him. I can point to enjoyable times before, but actual joy is not something I experienced before him. Trust is something I was taught as an adult, by a friend who helped me become the person my husband loves and has been devoted to for 28 years.

See, the first time I had a conversation with Hamid (my husband), I said something that must of amused him. He flashed this brilliant smile… It was like the sun breaking through the clouds after a storm. I remember thinking, "Oh… please do that again!"

Got a feeling, Hamid might be over the moon with your poem.
Always think if someone can make you smile they're halfway into your heart.

Actually, Hamid hasn't seen this one yet. I just composed it yesterday. With him working 3am to 1pm, showering and napping when he got home, then heading to the train station to pick up our son from his DC trip to see his godmother, I didn't get a chance to share it with him. But, he's alway very humble about these poems when he's the topic.
...lovely, indeed! I'm certain whoever it is intended for will be as captivated by your every word as I was. We need to acknowledge those in our lives more by giving such presentations to them as gifts - a lifelong treasure this would be!
