Shackled In Silence

A poem about the devastation of my sketching journals being found and destroyed for the truth laid bare in them.

Affirming my devaluation

Ever abased in your estimation

Home and the world is proven unsafe

Never haven for this downtrodden waif

In your eyes I was to blame, abased… 

A woman-child left abandoned, disgraced 

Never should speak of such cold secrets… 

An enigma enshrouded in bleakness

With my words laid bare do they upbraid

Leaving me always alone and afraid

Raiding words and pictures secreted

My journals… haven incinerated

Living torment shackled in silence

My heart fettered by most loving tyrants

through this piece and I was

So poignant a write dear Mom! it is hard not to empathise when the pains of abuse resonate so strongly in these lines:( Of course we learn later how weak those that have need to abuse truly are and in time a sense of even pity gets intermixed with the pain in reflection.

to be abused this way is so awful...and the only sanctuary is found and destroyed...there is no outlet..and tyrants only think they love...but instead they suppress and depress.
