Shadows of Christmas

Shadows of Christmas

A Poem by MomzillaNC

Advent is our Hope against the darkness,

Living into the expectation of Christ.

Who is the Light born to dispel shadows

From the hearts of the People of Advent.

At the center of His holy Nativity are

Shadows of pasts, Crucifixion, and Ascension

In dark of night, from the dark of the stable

Emmanuel, the Light was born at Christmas.

In the shadows of all our Christmases

We see shadows of the past behind us,

And live the present in the shadows of Hope.

In shadows of Hope, look to an eternal future.

I came a bit late but nevertheless it is quite an event to read writings in where some form of beliefs are expressed. As in this writing your beliefs come streaming through. I am not a great fan of changing fonts or trickery at large but I felt that the writing took a more personal feeling in this font. It also brought me back to school, the three kings play, the adorned tree, the nativity scene and altogether the expectation that something is about to happen, which is written clearly. I must confess I don't equate the Christ with the birth of Jesus, which I think it has to do with belief systems at large, I say that because the possibilities granted through the acceptance of The Christ are still very much a thing of mystery if one is to endorse what's written in Christian esotericism books. All that again greatly depicted in your writing.

An invitation to accept an unknown journey.

Thank You.

beautiful! the true meaning of Christmas. I'm thinking of other religious celebrations in other religions which, unfortunately, often lose their spiritual objective and become an excuse for gluttony.

You are welcome...:).....
I've never been a fan of the commercialism of Christmas. It takes away the true meaning of it in my opinion. It has become a shadow of what Christmas is supposed to be. We see santa more than Christ and that is the single largest reason that Christmas is just a shadow. Big corporations make it nothing more than; me, me, me, what do I get. santa with a naughty list, as if to say a child is undeserving of even celebrating Christmas at all.

I like that your piece hints at that, at least it does from my perspective. More specifically though, it tells of the true reasons for Christmas and the reasons that it isn't what it once was. Great job Momzilla.

You are very welcome my friend. My pleasure.
Another good write Denise. Loved the lines. .
"And live the present in the shadows of Hope.
In shadows of Hope, look to an eternal future." .
He gives us hope... and hope drives us forward.. It keeps us alive... without hope we are lost, shattered... and without Him, there is no hope. .. :)
