An Autumn Sigh

An Autumn Sigh

A Poem by MomzillaNC

Spreading stains o’fiery glory ‘cross forest scenes

Dying flames of vitality…red & gold & brown & greens

Bright Autumn color beneath an azure sky

Shedding leaves fell upon fading lawns lie

Bare-boned, skeletal trees on the horizon

Leave evergreen reminders of vibrant holidays, my son

What an enchanting writing! In fact if I had to be honest a little envious as we over here don't get the kind of display offered in this descriptive nature of the writing. Funnily enough real great detail tochange the colour, normally I find myself "feeling " dogmatic about them details (extra point for using that word there) as working in IT puts you off from that sort of embelishment but in here it adds an extra layer. The commonality of feelings I guess found that Autumn is the time of balance between day and night, before night takes over and brings the coming winter, a time of darkness and death. I really like it becuase of it. It seems to carry a duality between light and dark that exists in us, and in us.

After all all things must die before they can be born.

Thankyou

Oh. This is an unusual occurrence. I thought you were saying it's the way it always is there. Sorry.
Nicely done, you painted a picture in my head perfectly. The lines flow gracefully.

Two thumbs up!

I am a huge fan of season poems. I like how you have used your rhymes and the fonts, also the fact that you made the lines slant to symbolise falling leaves.

Thank you. I'm glad you got that thing on the slant. No one else has mentioned it, except KL.
The form and style really add to this piece. Nice for a positive spin on autumn, despite the fact that I am not so positive about it.

Tired but poking along. Ah, the utility bill here is more expensive in winter.:)

Soft, sweet phrasing and a poem I'd like to have written! To my mind, Autumn isn't the beginning of the year's fading but through all its beautiful colours - as you include so brightly - it's a reminder of what every year of Life can and does hold, if we look for it. Such calm thoughts, gently written.

Nicely written and rhymed Momzilla! I'm always a pushover for seasonal poetry, but this is a very good example of that genre: one that many people try, but very few people do well. The colors were a nice touch that not too many would have thought to do.
