Dogma, made me think. Steve Jobs, was quoted somewhere? recently, and said if we don't follow our dreams, we are fools. Referred to Dogma in the quote. You made it very simple. It may not be your style, but you made me think. Isn't that important? Thank you.

That quote from Steve Jobs is "Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

Thank you so much for the poem and the quote. It's strange to me that somehow, we read, or at least me, and it sounds good, but later great! I read this poem of yours awhile back and let it sink in. I really liked it then, but now I think it is great as well. Well really better. You and Richard, of all the people here, especially you, have helped me so much and I know you cannot realize how helpful it is. I just nervously wrote a note to someone, kindly, but I meant it, about their reference to reading a poem of mine, several times. When I say something, I mean it. I'm very naive, and trustful, but as a Christian, I try not to judge. But I must be too sensitive, because it did hurt my feelings. Anyway, thank you again. Dale

There are plenty of ways to give a review and say nothing offensive. If I'm asked to review, and I don't feel I can say anything good, I won't be unkind: I'll come up with something that really says nothing. But, if I cruise someone's work and do not like it, I won't say anything at all.
I will always be honest though, even if asked pointedly what my "nothing" review means. That can be difficult. It's happened a couple of times.
I know there's a lot of bad poetry around. But, I just don't see the need to be unkind about it. Expression is everyone's right. I try to be kind and helpful where I can. Where I can't, I just let it be.

I know what you mean; I'm not qualified to give reviews. If I don't like something or understand it. I step away. Never would I say anything hurtful. I have had people say just recently; like the Silly, I suppose Mad Men Poem? that it was all over the place; and you didn't say anything much - that little circle what you're trying to explain, so I get it and I learn. Some people are sensitive - and I am, but not when it comes to writing. I'm mature enough to take it. And sometimes when people are TOO complimentary; I'm not stupid; I know I am yet to write an EPIC anything, but I'll keep trying to say something.

I absolutely love this piece. Not 100 percent sure about the font and background, but I think it seems to work. About the content, I couldn't agree more.

This whole piece was rather a departure for me -- a bit experimental. But, the color choice is deliberately trying to be sickening. I was really unsure about it. I'm glad it works and folks seem to be getting my intent.
Just came around this! The presentation of this writing is what accentuates the intention behind it, but let's not be fooled. See by definition Dogma does not have a negative connotation so I am sure that is a given side... As if the word here was implied by having a negative connotation is it that way? For example the dogma found on Buddhism if you are a Zen practitioner then found in the Bhoddiharma or through the concept of Dharma are so much intrinsical parts of the Dogma, but funnily enough it does not make them into any of the descriptions aforementioned. Somehow I think the poor word has been pushed into a corner and suppressed into that which is devoid of thinking. I think so as it is not explained. The irony of it all is that I think most dictionaries would agree that the word means to have an opinion which makes the writing have a sense of humour as none of the expressions seem willing to embrace opinions. But then again if the Law wasn't dogmatic, fancy telling the Police when he stops you going at 75 mph : I am so sorry today I don't feel like paying this ticket.
Maybe after that silly comment, we may agree that we have driven knowledge to a dogmatic state becuase we can't think anymore.
Great intensity here
Thankyou

Too true Zilla. I think this is what most people mean when they say they want to be spiritual and not religious, or socially conscious without being an activist...?
Yes, there is a time to exclude ideologies, but usually, inclusion of concepts benefits all concerned.
Well said.

And, yes, dogma is what people cling to when they hold no true beliefs; dogma lets them puff themselves up and justify their small-minded pursuit of an agenda that excludes anyone who doesn't slavishly follow the same dogma.
Dogma is a powerful thing. It takes all the thinking out of the equation and allows the dogma to do the thinking for you. I know had I been born in a different place or time I would have found myself in a gulag, a reeducation camp or under the thumb of the Inquisition.
Dogma is always right…
to exclusion of all the other -isms.
The only time in school I was reprimanded was in second grade parochial school we were learning about dogma. I made the fatal mistake of raising my hand and asking, "How do you know?" That was a lesson that stayed with me for a lifetime.

Only one dogma can ever be right…

Those -isms men lay down your lives for…
dying and killing and hating…
Dogma is the big stick at the gate where
the guard dogma always excludes.
A dog with a bone, indeed. Great write.
