Interesting when put this way. As writing is a little random I tend to relate to Frieda's for reasons unknown to me I like the fact that her paragraph may have physical intenions. What I do know from the subject and my relation to the site is that is sad that the site does not seem to feel the same level of passion for writin as the writers that come to use the site. So it was left unclear to me as if repudiation could just be a momentary thing. Nothing could stop the user from continuing in his empty journey.

We're glad you liked it. The developers could boot him. But, it would require a concerted effort from the individuals he's plagiarized. They would have to take their hard evidence to the developers show the plagiarism; and should probably organize a petition from the rest of us.

Nope is part of the agreement when you first sign in. I work in IT it is clear the do not want to IP bann. For reason's unknown to me..... No petition needed what is illegal in the eyes of the law is not legal in the eyes of the developer.

Maybe. But, my experience has been that when enough people make a big enough noise about it, then developers tend to act. If users become too disillusioned with the site, they'll move on to another: that's lost revenue. When you get right down to it, that's their only motivation: to generate revenue. If need be, writers can take their petition to this site's advertisers. Amazon, for example, could not possible wish to associated with a site that supports plagiarism: publishing is still their lifeblood.

Yes he is lurking and that is precisely my point. The descent thing for the site to do is IP bann him which would at least make him get a new location ...... or to know about IP's as he doesnlt know about poetry I hardly think he is an IT afficionado...

Something really should be done about him. He'll be self-published on sites like Amazon too, I'm sure, enslaving other writer's words.

Rene@ I brought up IP tracking with the site owner about a year ago because of a different kind of troll...one of those harassing ones. The site owner didn't even respond back to me. This site is just a place to put money in there pocket and that's it. They want to do as little as possible to earn that money.

I heard you saying that but the site cannot be seen promitng illegality is not difficult to understand. Otherwise let's sell drugs too let's see how log that will last or lets promote terrorism let's see how long that one last.

I know who you speak of Red, they banned his nasty a*s, but he had threatened physical harm before they went to those lengths.

Ive been on other sites that use IP tracking for the purpose of eliminating fake and harassing profiles. Especially when it comes to protecting minors who use the sites. If a complaint is made against a member that is the only time the IP info is used. To ban and prevent the return under a new name. Theres nothing illegal about a site doing that...the fact that they use IP tracking is clearly stated in the sign up info and site policies when you join.

There's only one way to make the developers act: hit them in their pockets. Take the complaints, the fight to their revenue stream: the advertisers. Amazon and the other publishing support companies do NOT want to be associated with plagiarism. I'd say organizing with other writing forum sites would help too. Take a multiple site petition with overwhelming numbers of signatories and evidence to those advertisers and this site and those others will quickly do something to deal with plagiarism on their sites.

Good poem on plagiarism. That was also a challenge in the Poetry Group: to pen an anti-plagiarism poem and to be cruel about it.

The plagiarist is just another thief, stealing from our souls. To convict and condemn them in poetry is to take back from them the power they snatch when they steal the beauty of our worlds of words… enslaving our genius. Go ahead: be cruel.

These little challenges in the Poetry Challenge group are intended to help us stretch our poetic muscles. It's a very good technique for breaking writer's block too. If you're stuck for inspiration, just look around you and write anything about the first thing your glance falls upon. That's where the "brick challenge" came from: I was sitting in my car, waiting for my son, in front of a brick wall and feeling like my writing had hit the preverbal brick wall. The poop poem also sprang from writer's block: I was complaining to my husband that I was stuck for and idea; he fatuously told me to write about poop.

Great compilation from all of you. its sad really - I actually remember when I first joined this site Charlie Konsor listened. Then there was this horrid site wide crash - people lost work - and couldn't retrieve it. Some of the old guard left for other sites and there was this influx of emo-kids and stalk and slash writers - some of us stayed on...I do love this place. I kinda hate the site itself - we used to be able to put up backgrounds - there were less banners and more real activity - but the people here - that's why I stay. I sift through the glut of schlock fodder to get to the good stuff. It does piss me off that they don't move faster when someone is clearly a threat to the real writers here.

Thank you. And, I do wish they'd give you more creative control over formatting and more options. As for policing the writers, it all comes down to revenue. They way to motivate the developers to do something about plagiarists is to hit them in the pocket: take the fight to the site advertisers -- that's the site's revenue stream.
