Empty Soul

Greedy Greedy, riddle me this…

Rhyme me a rhyme from the black abyss

You bought it all and you’ll buy more.

There’s never enough ‘cause there’s nothin’ in you.

You’ll take and buy and steal and grasp,

Your greedy, grasping heart never satisfied.

No price, no fame, no infamy, nor glory gained

For you, Greedy Greedy, is never enough.

More and more and more and more

Sucked down into the black abyss…

Used up, discarded and never mourned…

“Cause more and more and more and more

Is just… can never ever be enough.

Empty hands and empty heart…

And empty life brings empty soul,

And soulless life gives no gifts.

The soulless stealing another's gifts

Gifts they lack because

They've emptied their souls

In hot pursuit of greed…

Inspiration… just another empty, empty thing…

A thing that can’t be bought by you.

So, Greedy Greedy, you steal it,

You claim it, you take it as your own.

You never give… you only take,

Wondering why… why your life…

Your empty life turned out this way.

Greedy Greedy, you think you have it all,

And have the right to ever and ever more,

Never understanding that all you take,

Draining you out, makes you

Ever and ever more an empty soul.

Greedy Greedy, you think you have it all, And have the right to ever and ever more, Never understanding that all you take, Draining you out, makes you Ever and ever more an empty soul.

I recently watched a documentary about psychopaths and I think there is probably a link between the plagiarizer and the psychopath … they certainly are not giving much thought to actual writer of a piece and alas … they probably don't have much in the way of guilt over it either.

This was an awesome write, MamaDI. Loved the abyss line:)

So easy to take
Thinking no one will notice
Your plundering
Of other people's ideas.

Selling your soul
For a few minutes
Of fame and glory.

When
In reality
You're showing
Your hubris
For all to see.

Crowning yourself
In a wreathe of sh*t
Which you
So richly deserve.

Myself, I don't know, if I have been a victim of this crime, as my poetry is so unique, in it's written style and subject manner covered. Thank you, Momzilla, for sharing your views and opinions on these people, which I agree with you.

Your welcome.
This is the second piece I've read about plagiarism, though I didn't realize it was about that while I was reading it. Seems like people are getting desperate for recognition. It's so sad. This was a very moving piece. The way your words flowed left a lasting impact. I could feel the emotion behind the words. Thank you for sharing.

That's a very healthy perspective. But, y'know, plagiarism is a crime.

This is great. It really gets to the heart, and soul of the matter, and pulls no punches. BTW, I noticed I am not in your group, I could have sworn I got an invite and clicked yes -- but maybe it was a dream. Also was sure you were on my friends' list and are not ...:)

Thanks for the read. I'm glad you liked it. Our earlier exchange inspired it.
Honestly, plagiarism is one of the ultimate forms of disrespect. People's lives can be poured into their work--whether it be their life's research or their raw emotions--and the fact that someone ignores that and takes another's words as one's own...it's just so sad.

I really like how you emphasize that plagiarizing makes you an empty soul. Our words are how we express ourselves, and if someone feels the need to take someone else's..well, a small part of me feels bad for them.

A wonderful poem on such a serious topic!

Thank you.

A small -- very, very small -- part of me feels sorry for them too.
