Love's Demise

For all those couples out there who tried so hard to hold on… for when you both know you just can’t make it work…

Sunlit darkness descended…

Casting shadows o’er hearts upended.

She smiled at him through her tears,

Turned and stumbled into the years.

He squared his shoulders and walked away…

In the end, they just couldn’t stay.

The eyes of heartache

Tell a story of heartbreak.

Falling tears, hot like blood…

Trailing down like a blood rain flood…

As hope is lost, with heaving sighs…

Two hearts convulsed in Love’s demise.

' the eyes of heartache/tell a story of heartbreak'...this line is apt to describe the pain that those two people are carrying.its never an easy decision for parting ways....all those emotions come inbetween ....but sometimes it was inevitable.And the two agreed to walk that lonely path ,with tears in their eyes on love' s demise!

succinctly epic ... nice work ... i think you may have put some time into this poem .. every word seems important ... i feel empathetic for the two lovers departing ... so well done ... when people agree to say goodbye .. it is the beginning of healing .. if they don't the ripping and tearing can go on a long long time .. you give me something to think about :)

Wow, beautifully written, heartbreaking words!

One of my best friends just went through a break up with his girlfriend and this describes the whole thing perfectly (and from what he told me, the whole first stanza is exactly how it went down). It truly brings to light that just because a break up can be "mutual" doesn't make it any easier. Everything is amplified in affairs of the heart--especially when you lose part of yours after years of being together.

It's such a shame that love takes turns like this, but in the end, it'll help us grow~~

Thank you very much. I too have friends and family that couldn't stay together. There are so many things in this world that can tear people apart. But, I think the saddest thing is when people part, still loving each other desperately, but realizing they just can't make it work.
