A blackening heart…

In a darkening soul…

A love given in joy…

Wasted in loathsome betrayal

Of an honest heart,

Offered up in sacrifice

On the alter of your conceit.

In the gloaming of your soul,

Cry tonight for the times we had.

Try… try to whisper me a kiss…

And a new dark will rise…

Seething all consuming pain…

Thirst that never may be quenched…

Lost and wonton in sepulchre seduction.

You know, I believe this is the second poem I have read over the years I have been reading poetry that used the word "gloaming". What a cool word, I am going to have to use that sometime. As for the poem you used it in, very dark, very eerie and covered in bruises. This has a feeling of dread wrapped up in a wrongful love/affection/seduction. Maybe like staring at an automobile accident, something you don't want to see but can't look away from. Pretty cool. I like this style.

Yeah, I'm not much on WritersCafe any more. I'm focusing on Medium because it pays me. I'm not getting rich, but I earn a dollar or so on every post.

I still post new creative writes here first, as I did with my newest poem, "Seconds," the other day. But, I then post to Medium and promote from there.

Cool, good luck with your poetic venture. i used to write on a site called Helium that paid for every read you got. At the end of the year I earned about $900.00. They eventually went under.

I've been on Medium since 2016. But, I only bought a membership back in March. After getting the membership, the partnership was free to join and started paying out right away.

It's $5 a month or $50 per year for a membership. You have to be able to access Stripe for a partnership as that's the platform's secure payment portal. Some places outside the States (like some African nations for example) can't access Stripe.

Lots of folks still buy a membership without becoming partners. The membership gives you unlimited access to read any and all Medium posts and publications.

So far, Medium has not paid out as high as you made in year. I average $20 to $30 a month so far. Still, with an annual fee of $50, I am more than making back my financial input.

Thank you. Yes, that turn of phrase is rather alluring. Sometimes, I just write down these phrases that I come back to later and even use more than once. That's one of those phrases -- as is "lost in sepulchre seduction" and "alter of your conceit" and "gloaming of your soul."

I know what I mean by "whisper me a kiss." I think it will be a poem of its own at some point. It's a way my husband has of just brushing a kiss on my fingertips, or my cheek, like a tender caress. Something I could never imagine anyone who passed my way before being capable of approximating, certainly nothing the person this poem was about could even have conceived of.
