I didn't know what to call this one. Thanks to my best friend, who's also a writer (a novelist) I now have the perfect title! When I saw it written in her message, it hit me like a bolt of lightning!

' The welcome caress of vapors, sensual and inviting. '
Okay, now I'm awake. : )
The steam rising and then falling. Yes, caffeine is needed it seems, to begin the day.
You paint such vivid images with your words. This is so beautifully written and presented.
For a minute, I was like "all serious" and then it hit me. No, no... it's about coffee you dumb bunny. Read it again. So I did, visualizing the "Porcelain vessel of joy", the "ethereal white swirling deep to rise", smelling the "embrace of aroma" and hearing the "clink, tink, clank, chink" of the silver spoon held so daintily in the grasp of adoring, reverent fingers. I think in this piece, your steam is rising as your words dance and skip across that dark pool of thoughtful mornings. You're right mom, I did like it! :)
100 welcoming dawns
P.S. I hope it's about coffee, otherwise I'm going to take my imagination into the shop for an overhaul.

I've gotten paid to write. But how do you see a coffee house paying for an author to write (other than advertising or a review of some sort)? Is this like a 60's retro-poetry coffee house ala G-village or similar or a wishful fantasy?

A screenplay writer got his break writing those commercials. I can't remember the writer's name now. I read about it years ago when the commercials were running. And, I remember seeing poems used to sell products in magazines many times. Why shouldn't I be paid to do something like that too? Heaven knows I've been paid for my graphic design work commercially. There really is money to be made in the field if you can nail yourself to that grind.

I just realized that I have "missing time." Is there a relationship between coffee, missing time and UFOs? Was I "off world" during the 90's?! O_O
what a way to tease the senses of the readers, especially those of us who love coffee... sweet addiction, indeed... I am a night shift nurse, so needless to say, I drink it:)
some of the rich descriptions in here were divine.. and the way it flowed through the process of fixing it to perfection, just the way you like it, where it is warm and ready for you to enjoy.. yes.. not nice... now I want a cup.. which goes to show, it was well written....
YUM...

LOL! :D I posted this on my FB too, just to torture folks!
Oh, well the subliminal quality here is strong so I will be right back after I make a cup of coffee and continue the review. - Back!! Let's get the how suggestive and attractive your writing is because ultimately is just coffee right? So as I male, prmitive, devoided of all sensetivity would ask What's the big fuzz? So the writing tell me as the dance of aroma, and thickening liquidity and seductive vaporous gestures all come to hunt for the sense of smell.
Oh, that does indeed sound good!
I read your notes and I came up with two:
No one can understand the truth until....
Somethings are better rich
Thankyou

My 10-year old was reading over my shoulder and we were both laughing riotously! Thank you. I'll add your title suggestions to the list I'm considering. Yours are certainly hint the least at coffee -- which is what I'm looking for to preserve the ambiguity.
"Vessel of joy"? "Steamy pool of delight"? "steamy delight"? ignore the last two, they suggest a very different meaning. :P
or maybe don't give a tile or just let it say: "What am I"?
anyways.......very refreshing poem and a rewarding read.
great description and imagery.
i loved it.
p.s. this poem exponentially increased my love for coffee.
