I am the rain.

The mountain may spit fire at the sky…

Still the rain will fall.

The mountain may quake at the world…

Still the rain will fall.

The mountain will be silent and brooding…

Still the rain will fall.

The mountain will tumble down upon the earth…

Still the rain will fall.

The mountain will be reduced to sandy shore…

Still the rain will fall.

Be the rain.

love this..simple...straight forward ..deeply meditative ... isn't it funny how most of us run to get out of the rain ...i think the faster we run the more rain drops we run into .. so have developed the sllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww rain walk ... now i shall add the spiritual "...be the rain" ;)) nice one Mom!

I really enjoyed this, although I read into it something about the insignificance of what's happening on Earth, as the "rain will fall" no matter what goes on down here, reading the comments I guess I was wrong lol, either interpretation, it's a great poem!

Thanks. It could easily have been about the futility of fighting the rain. Trying to please everyone one and/or letting this angry world steal your peace and joy is equally futile. Better to "Be the rain."

"Still the rain will fall." - Yes, we should never give up.. We must always stand by our beliefs.. The world might change, people might change but we must remain firm.. We must never give up our beliefs, our ideals and blindly follow the crowd.. I can totally relate this one to your other post - "Gluttony and Gratitude".

Thank you. This was actually in response to someone who was railing against my implacable hold to the truth and to decent, respectful treatment of those I don't agree with. Just because I don't agree with someone is no reason to disrespect them. That I would not join in that disrespect opened me to quite vile castigation. I simple wrote this in response.

Indeed, be the rain. Speaking of which, there's a bit falling on the parched late august world right now. Rain is a good analogy for perseverance, in that even though small and liquid, it has shaped this world for eons, carving and shaping like an artist's chisel.

Thank you so much. I appreciate your review. I personally believe that language is mankind's greatest gift, and most tragic curse. And, I think the English language is the most highly evolved on the planet, largely because in incorporates so much of the world's languages and continues to evolve and adapt; unlike French, for example, which is rigidly controlled to prevent it changing. French today is identical to the language of the French Revolution.
