A Mother's Future

A Mother's Future

A Poem by Throughpaincomesbeauty
"

Single mother's road

"
Alone since the day she had that baby girl.
So many thoughts crossed her mind like the never ending ripples in the ocean, she wanted to give in and drown under the waves. But the look in that innocent babies eyes captured her as if she was gazing deep into the flames of a fire. Mesmerized and paralyzed she got caught in the possibilities of what a mother is, of what SHE could be. Scared and alone she raised that baby girl with all the love she had to give. In the eyes of some, she failed many times. But even with the weight of a thousand disappointed opinions constantly battling in her mind like that between good and evil, she kept going. That baby girl is now 8 and the road ahead is unpredictable, full of possibilities, and most certain many more mistakes to be made. She knows that love between mother and daughter is strong enough to carry them over the waves she once felt like drowning in. This love carries them off like the wind into the unknown future with smiles on their faces and love strong enough to overcome anything that comes their way.

It rambles on like the mind of a young mother at the mercy of opinions. I liked the mother's faith that love will overcome any mistakes and, I believe, the child is better for it.
