A Poem by Molly Cara

I sense the universe expanding in my gut where

Your guilt sits piling up

Beside my intestines, questions, and some dusty

Outdated mysteries

(And an incipient drop of serenity

     Wherever there are silvery pink

     Tubes of lip gloss)

That day there was just sun enough that when I closed

My eyes I could see checkered patterns flicker beneath

My lids

There’s a dense mist swarming the windows now

Hanging inert on the glass

In springtime I scatter impressions like petals for

Whomsoever cannot remember the kind of midday

Rain that blurs the sightlines and clarifies

Vision:

You can’t trust the idols and you can’t trust the psychics

You can hardly trust the preachers or the sociable

Or the downtrodden

It’s a shame to trust the absent and a gamble

To love what’s present

So where will you go

When you seek an illusion to live by?

................good lines. I like your wordings which are telling more about the humanity approach and reality in daytoday life. My regards.

I really like this poem. I read it several times and it's great. I usually don't go for poems that open with a visual of intestines, but for this poem I make one exception. ;) Good material.
