A Poem by Molly Cara

Listen:

You are everything you fear

You are

And everything you pray

You are and that should be enough

To fasten you

To Here

Listen:

I’d like a Reason as much as

The next guy

(So much so that I sometimes believe in astrology

And count things)

But I’m left to my own devices

Like the next guy

So I improvise:

I’m learning to identify my kin

By dilated pupils

And saturated wit and

A certain insistence on uncertain

Majesty:

There’s Aya’s stride down Montague Street

Towards and not away from

There’s Alexandra’s quick saccade

Across the page her mind in sync with her eyes

So you are everything we’ve prayed for

And everything we’ve feared

Take your perch and take your flight and take your time and

Give it.

I like the sounds in this cadence, which makes the rhythm and rhyme, and OH SO the intuition. This is a very beautiful open door that leads into playland.
