A Poem by Molly Cara

I have been known to seek disaster

Lanky long-armed disaster

My searchlight’s always on

At midnight

Or otherwise

And when like a vulture I scavenge for disaster

I wield a pretense like a scimitar

(It’s a woman’s weapon of choice

A scimitar

Because it’s curved in her likeness)

You were fun but truth

Be told I have more fun

Dancing at midnight in a black bra

Snagged in secret from my mother’s dresser

And baby I know you’d have been strong for me

But just the same

I’d rather have people to be strong for

I’m a woman of my word it’s just my words

Tend to change

And to me you’re just a passing flame

But to yourself you must be

Wildfire

This is amazing. I love the playfulness and the femininity juxtaposed with the "femme fatale" dynamic of the vulture/warrior. Really great work!
