A Poem by Molly Cara

Do one thing every day that scares you

Eleanor Roosevelt advised

I contemplate bunjee-jumping sky

Diving

Practicing doxology making an

Apology

I opt for:

Eating in public

So I’ve got this vegetable sandwich glaring

Up at me from its nest I’ve got this

Window pane in front of me where

New Yorkers walk against the rain

Some (like me) against the grain

I take a bite

And linger

Like I did from my boulder by the

Bashbish Falls

Where water bounded to its foamy end and rippled out

Again

I thought this must be what it’s like

To be God:

In the context of eternity

To see moment after moment

Run out and reconfigure

This is what it must be like for God:

To eat a vegetable sandwich in a

Public place.

A lot of images come to mind, spots in the city, birds, people, the smell of Nathans

This held my attention from beginning to end. And at the end... a smile.
I like the imagination behind this; and the thought process that brought it forward.
Good, fun poem!
