April 11, 2012A Poem by Molly CaraA few yards away from my bedside window There’s a tree with a divided trunk An elliptical peninsula amidst the pacasandra There’s a spot on the tree like Jupiter’s storm Where my brother says lightening struck And spat out the thin, flowering branchlettes That hang out in spindles This stricken branch divides again A few yards higher And from each subset magnolias like cumulous Clouds of magenta and white Assert their right to the sky Over neighboring branches and telephone wires And peeking through the blinds I once again see Bennett Beside the tree Marveling at the scene of disaster Where implausible beauty now springs Forth from this elliptical peninsula Amidst the pacasandra © 2012 Molly Cara |
