Enough

Enough

A Poem by Molly Cara

I imagine you somewhere where summer is

steadfast as Polaris, that lighthouse in the sky.

You’re standing on the shoreline.

The portion of the ocean you can see

is the greenest blue part of the water.

The sand behind you stretches out as far as

the wind can reach. You wonder if it’s miraculous.

It starts to rain, clear on blue water.

Go brush the long-haired ground with your toes.

See what grows. Summer is for nectarines,

and whatever else is sweet.

Always, the sun rises, the sky goldens like old pages.

Always, someone fills your mornings

with coffee and milky sun. You’re lucky.
It’s enough. You don’t have to deserve it.

I feel like I've found a diamond in the rough! Molly, this is extraordinary poetry...and so deserving of many reviews.
