Impromptu

Impromptu

A Poem by Molly Cara

You've made a stage of the sidewalk.
You dance like dust beneath a lantern.

The rain accompanies you. It hits you,
and you’re music.

A thousand shadows secede from night.
You are their siren. The rain is yours.

I think this one has a really modern feel to it. Your lines are very crisp and show a great use of brevity. No movement or sentiment is wasted here. I am very fond of your simile in the first stanza. Also, the detail about the rain hitting him and making him music is a great thought. Although, my favorite line is this one: "A thousand shadows secede from night.' You've got a lot of talent Molly, and you have a lot to say. It is a pleasure reading your work.
