On Fear

On Fear

A Poem by Molly Cara

If you praise God for your luck

And blame God for your misfortune

You have only seen half of God

Like we earthlings see only half

Of the moon, even as we call it

Full.

You are only as brave as

You once were afraid

And if you have not yet given

Yourself permission to be

Scared

Though you may move you will never

Go forward.

You wonder silently why the faces

Always change, and I tell you this:

When you live at a distance from yourself

You cannot fool anyone

Worth the fooling.

But if you must be masked

Then may you love your

Fellow masked man

As much as the player who dares

To face the world bare.

Slightly reminds me of a sermon or the like, something from either the old west Pastor or Gettysburg preacher.
