May 16, 2012A Poem by Molly CaraA full-figured sun impresses itself on the water Spanning the length of the river Ripples who want to be waves storm up against the rocks As though the ebb and flow were their own Idea and not that of some whispering moon Who has made a career of writing speeches For the sun and translating the prose of the Earth Into verse I think I’d rather be the tides today When I break against the rocks it will be Out of sparkle or Spite or Righteous indignation Not a sense of duty to The planetary prophets: Let the stars learn to stumble Over words and phrases and the moon Over phases Let this be a dialogue, impromptu and Imperfect. © 2012 Molly Cara |
