What is bravery, I hear you say,
Is it just stupid courage, blind faith
That everything will turn out if you just keep going the same way?
When you use it, does it feel like something you never had,
You just stumbled upon it, and most people think the word is part of you...
Who tells you what to do with it,
This thing you never quite admit?
you carry this strength yet never claim it, it's a quiet force without a name.
How do we keep going they say,...
but courage,
It questions motives, it tests your ends.
Sometimes it breaks, and makes you fall apart,
But in the pieces, sometimes you find your brave heart.
Where did it start? And how will it end?
... Step by step,...
though shadows grow,..
Bravery leads...
where fear won't go...
... not blind faith,
....nor reckless stride,
...But knowing
...that ...
You're. Still. Inside.
Bravery takes many forms, day to day coping with one's own pain - caring for someone else in pain; or, can be in battle or at the aftermath of battle, the remnants of life as known, over.. ear gone. Bravery is in coping with loss, the loss of another person gone from being or in sight. One could go on.. and on..
best said perhaps is that bravery is somehow carrying on when life throws up any one or more problems, pain, disdvantage and more and having or finding the will to cope.. somehow, anyhow. Perhaps.. More often or not the brave are unaware of this quality - they just carry on.. somehow.

Your poetry is saying something vital.. and you have found inner feelings that have written how you feel in a very sensitive way. Poetic form yes, is important.. but the heart of your words is what matters if one cares more for humanity than exhibition.
Thankyou everyone for your feedback, your words are kind and also insightful
"If one cares more for humanity than exhibition" thank you emmajoygreen, you just picked not only my heart from the garden bed, but my soul 💓
Molly, your poem "What is bravery" beautifully explores the complexities of courage and challenges conventional notions. I love how you articulate that bravery is not just “stupid courage” but a quiet strength we often overlook. To me, bravery embodies that quiet strength, involving vulnerability and the ability to confront fears. Your reflection on how true courage leads “where fear won't go” resonates deeply, and your closing lines, reminding us that we’re “still inside,” bring a comforting sense of resolution. Thank you for sharing such an insightful and touching piece!
To be honest, not every day do we get to read such poem,
the questions? though rhetoric flows well with the theme,
easy flow of words, sweet rhythms, a brilliant piece
