Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home

A Poem by MH

My bedroom door has bars on it.
Deadlocks at every entrance to this prison.
All the other inmates scream
with bits of me in their mouths and under their nails.

Forensics uncover DNA that matched all the victims
Our blood flows the same way
noses grow with snake nostrils

Vicious fights breakout
Sometimes I am the guard
While they fashion weapons out of debris
Anything they find
To hurl at the opposition.

Yet,
No one wants to leave,
The world outside these tall walls is unfamiliar
And in here
We never age.

Im getting out in two days.

This is quite cinematic. 👍🏻

Love the imagery here, can almost smell the cabin fever and pent-up aggression, the anticipated fear of release...

A very powerful and vivid piece cleverly written.

Thanks for sharing
