How We Saved You

How We Saved You

A Poem by MH

We all cling to parts of you-
Your hair, your eyes, your laugh
Use them as cuttings
Stem and root,
Frantically plant them.
If you were an ember
We would feed you the very air we breath
Instead- We submerge you in our strongest muscle,
use our flesh as soil.
The pieces of you we desperately plant
we hope will grow
in my heart,
in all of ours,
Grow.

A wonderful, positive write, beautifully written on what each person in our lives has the potential of being in our lives, if only we allow that nurture and love to grow. Love it.
