Unicorn

Unicorn

A Story by Mokey
"

Another 55-word story!

"

It was Julia's first unicorn.  Childhood stories rushed back.
"Real," she whispered.

Her mother would have kissed Julia's nose and said, "Of course it's real, little one."

But magic wasn't real after her mother died.

Yet now, years later, when Julia needed it most, this unicorn strolled by.

"You're really real?"

The shimmering beast came an inch from her face and nuzzled her nose with its snout.

"Of course."

And there's still hope afterall. I love the innocents in this piece.

Done right and these 55-word stories are a lot like Haiku. A lot more is in the story that the reader will be forced to interpret themselves. I got that sense here. There's a lot more story in this one but I'll have to figure it out myself I guess. :)
