Distance

Distance

A Poem by Mogan Horse

Oh great, you again, how much more can I take?

It's not hat I hate you, but seeing you causes another small part of my heart to break

Every time I am ready to settle for less

You show your face and my heart is again a mess.

You have always known me, but you always see her,

To others you may be a laugh, but to me you are a painful bur.

I hate seeing you because it tarts the cycle anew,

It's like trying to get dry while laying in a grassy field covered with dew.

You're a blast when you're here, but a curse when you are gone,

You're like the vicious night that never relents to the dawn.

I cannot wait to leave and run far far away,

Escape the heat, the bugs, and the clay.

I will hate being so farm from my childhood home,

But maybe when I return I will have grown

Enough to look you in the eye and not feel any pain,

Enough to be protected against your harsh, chilling rain.
