Foolish Little GirlA Poem by Mogan HorseAhhh to be 13 and dramaticLife was so vibrant, full of color and light Always new topics, homey feelings, and faces so bright. When something new or fun happened during your day, you couldn't wait to go tell you friends and see what they would say. School and social times were stimulating, things you wouldn't ever miss Even hard days had their highlights, even the darkest days had a golden mist. Your friends were always there to support you, Smiles and laughter filled your halls If you were struggling in anyway, someone would hear your calls Some days you thought you had it hard, you thought you had it rough But that was back when you thought you were big and tough You foolish little girl, where is your strength today? Where is your vibrant glow, your spirit, your will to get in the game and play? You have allowed your world to slip into the dullest shade of grey You never speak, mostly because no one cares what you have to say Your booming voice was once stockpiled with stories and jests Now it is week from silence, and is barely a whisper that escaped your guarded chest. School has become a ball and chain you must drag and bare, Numbness and camouflage is mediocre, you do not really have to care. Telling your stories was once a special pleasure, Now even a sharp comeback seems to be an impossible measure. So where are you now, foolish happy little girl? Where is your pride? Your interest? That personality that used to shimmer like a freshly buffed pearl? Starved and neglected, that girl is dead Your body still moves, but your character has gone from your head You must ride this train of grey for four years, trapped behind rusty bars. All you can do is watch the world fly by, and stare at your self-inflicted scars. © 2013 Mogan Horse |
