Beauty In The Beholder (There Is No Such Thing As Ugly)A Poem by PoeticFuryLook in the mirror and tell me what you seeShe walks to class every morning with mirror in hand. Trying to hide herimperfectionsof her outer beauty, but people judge her so much to the point where she feels her inside beauty does not even matter. Why should she try to make one understand? Every locker she would past. There is a gasp and then a laugh. She runs into the bathroom. On the stalls people would not call her by name instead they would make fun of her. Compare her looks and skin color instead of tan, but more likely compared to agiraffe. She would run home from school, and remain in a rut. No one to call on for a best friend, and to get to a sharp point in her life the razor blade she would pick up, and draw on her skin, and tell her mother it is just a bad cut. She would not go out. Not even with those she know. Her past would come keep her company, and somehow she can't seem to let go. As the next day comes; the same routine comes into play everything she does, and has to do she runs. Hates to talk to anyone by force. Hates to hear some words, and talk about some issues like guns. Yet one day she was doing what she did best and that was being herself running away from life. She bumped into a guy in the hallway, as she dropped all her books he started to pick them up, and was quick to say. Your hair is very nice. Your smile is so pretty. "How do you know?" I know that when you see someone you like apparently you show your inner beauty which comes to the outside silly. As she picked up her books and said I have to go. She ran back into that bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror, and wondered what just happen. Was this her first sign of real emotion for the first time in the long time that she did not mean to show? As the day came to an end she actually began to walk instead of run, and when she stepped outside. That guy was the first thing she seen behind that door/ He said... "Go to the dance with me" As the girl tried to speak He put his finger over her lip and said quietly. "Set yourself free" The story of the ugly duckling beauty is in the eye of the beholder so don't ever think you are nothing. As she said yes she became herself and ran home screaming to her mom I have a date for the dance I have to wear something. As the last thing she did was hang up her dress. She went back to her only friend the mirror and said tomorrow I have to set myself free and forget my past it will be hard, but I will do my best. As the guy met her outside the school she did not realize he was so cool. Since this moment was full of rarity. Those same people who judge, and talk about her gasped again and had their mouths to the floor. Cause she did not know she was going out with the guy who was the prince of popularity. As they started to dance she said why me? He said all the other girls around here along with the guys try to be something that they are not, or for that matter can't be, and to me you being yourself is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. ....Plus that shows who you are cause if there are people like that who understand there will never be such a word as ugly.
