Alone in the WoodA Poem by modtoddincA poem of love
Alone in the woods,
Hearing you Thinking thoughts of blue Missing the nature of who We once were Interconnectedness ensured. The birds sing The squirrels swirl There’s a wood pecker... Hammering out life’s whirl. I’m resting here With the fish in the pond Wanting, wishing To move on Tomorrow comes still With its harshness and natural will Rest now my son Before you climb that hill Yesterday remains a sorrow Mistakes and death on the forest floor Deep in the marrow My bones ache the lovers song And yet new life is born out of each decay Showing us the truth of all nature’s way I’m just a man with two legs to walk this earth Only here to share her rebirth And create the joy we do sorely miss, In the absence of a tender kiss Like the bubbles of a soft drink My thoughts rise Sunlight shining through the trees The dance of the leaves Nature is the emotion Our feelings are the dance We experience it most in human romance.
