Inner Voice Vs. Soul

This is a Found piece... I use some dialogue from the movie Legend, a verse from a U2 song, and my own thoughts.

The dialogue-

Inner Self: “Eat”

Soul: “I’m not hungry.”

Inner Self: “You Lie! Hhmm hm hm hm, just to please me!”

Soul: “I do nothing for your pleasure!”

Inner Self: “All I wish, is for you to sit… and,   - talk with me…”

Soul: “Sit?”

Soul: “Here?”

Inner Self: “Yes…  Plleease!”

Soul: “I prefer to stand.”

Inner Self: “SILENCE!!!!!”

Inner Self: “Or stand… As you wish. It is enough… that we are, alone, together.”

Inner Self: “Just the two of us… “

Inner Self: “heh, Some um… s-imple conversation.”

Soul: “I have nothing to talk about.”

Soul: “You’ve stolen my dreams away…”

Inner Self: “All things change, Lady… the dreams of youth, are the regrets of maturity. Dreams are my specialty; through dreams, I influence mankind.”

Inner Self: “My dream is of eternity.”

Inner Self: “With you… I offer you, this rose… princess. My Heart! My Soul! My love..."

Soul: “Love?”

We all experience the battle within ourselves to do what we think is right.

We justify what we do throughout each and every night,

The voice within is our own,

Everything outside is just a clone,

We label others, share our struggles, and make excuses,

But each battle is fought and won, or lost, within ourselves...

 as one story.

Todd, Excuse my language (English) but this is f****n' amazing. You have taken my penchant for multi-media (music videos accompanying my writes) and escalated it to a whole, broader level. It's too bad you couldn't have found away to include the song's portion (One) into the sound. But I was deeply enthralled by this piece, you are a very talented young man. Keep RR's coming my way, and when you are accepting an award for your work, hold the award up toward the camera and say, "To you, dan!" take care...dan

Thanks Dan, I have to admit when I came up with this idea, I thought, "Dan will like this." :) I thought the same thing about the U2 video, and have now included it... at least for the viewer to click on if they wish... anyway, thanks for being so supportive of my creativity and ideas... (I honestly have had many over the years, and for the first time in my life I am actually following through with some of them, even if its on a 'free site' and I don't get paid... I finally have decided to just be me, and (excuse my English) F**k the world in regards to recognition and reward... and guess what? I am getting more recognition than I ever have... lol! Maybe a payday is still in my future. I do not mean to sound arrogant in any way, that has always been my fear I guess, I just think deeply, have lot's of ideas... some good, some fair, some poor, and some flat out stink... but I have decided to become my highest idea of who I am, here and now, put it all out there and let the cards fall where they may... I have lost everything in my life, gained back what's most important, (love and family) and almost lost it all again! That was the point when I came back to this website after some time away (in self pity) and started writing and sharing from my heart at least once a day. I can at say with total sincerity that I feel better about myself and its because of people like you who are supportive. Thank you my friend, Thank you very much.

Todd, I share a lot of your tales, in a way...I am a recovering alcoholic who has literally lost everything...my relationship with my son, a cooking career...but thankfully had the strength to pull back from that (I recently relapsed on my addiction but am again sober) but I believe that if we could take a look at most poet's backstory it would most likely not be a story of angels carrying them to heaven...but of having some strength, however powerful, to pull back and give it another shot. And I guess we can excuse each other's language now (F**k you!)...oops, did I just write that?. I recall the first few things of yours that I reviewed, I thought, "Wow, this guy's got a ton of talent, he's just a bit rough, unrefined. He'll grow, I know he will." And since then (January) I've seen you advance your talent in leaps and bounds, kind of makes me wish I was your age and starting my writing (publicized, like here on WC). Back when I was your age there was, first of all, no internet, second even if there was there were no websites to submit writing to. It seems like a million years ago but only about 22 years. You mentioned someday having a payday in the future...that was never, and still is not, a realistic dream for me. I get my reward now from stumbling on young poets like you and thinking, "I'll see his name in print someday!" That is my dream...that's why I've come onto WC and taken a few young poets under my wing and encouraged their dreams and ambitions to someday blossom into fruition. I dream that for you, Todd. Hi Todd. This is a remarkable write on many levels, as in where thoughts go, arise from, and what we do with them. This visual display derives from an artistic mind, the voice of conscience from deep inside oneself, and the words from a mind able to view and describe one's thoughts with autonomous detachment. This really hits me. I don't know if you meant it this way, but when I read these lines, I immediately thought of how I sometimes think late at night about everything I've done and whether or not I made the right decisions. I really love this poem. Going into my favorites immediately.

Its not my cup of tea Todd, but one doesnt have to like a piece to see its value in artistic terms. The whole ensemble is very dramatic and expertly composed. Clever collating and collaging with some fine Tyler Durden-esque 'glue' between the two. Impressive work Todd - tres avante garde my friend.
