Justified IgnoranceA Poem by modtoddincA poem about current events
Life as we know it will change everyday Seems like disgust and repulsions are here to stay If ignorance is bliss then what’s outright crime? Turning our heads, every time
Oblivious to pain, drunk to shame Is it really a party if we hold the blame? It wasn’t me, I did not know I was just there waiting; For a great show
Authority outraged! Public Outraged! Police brutality People raped
I read about it; I hear about it, it’s what I see… This current event history: Some say down with the law, Killing us; is the final straw Others say we just don’t care ‘bout that girl laying over there
Some will run and hide, Some will get arrested, Some will cry out Some just stand aside
From within they shout To themselves; feeling just When another voice says we must…
Whatever the group does The safety clouts Toting our bravery In duffle bag spouts
Get on the plane Get outta town Move to another city Don’t hang around
Talk about them, Make them enemies Steal them gems Forget empathy when It’s not you.
