Love Displayed

An attempt to describe the love of a couple who came together in uncertain circumstances as friends only to discover the purest love together.

Within these windows ~ cometh our souls,

Entering forth one ~ to another,

Softer than a touch ~ of lip’s exquisite fold

Heavens body above ~ a stardust’s hover 

Romance on a stage; in songs of love and rage,

Turning presently a thin and delicate page

Discovering a deeper more splendid, and sacred space

Of trusting integrity ~ honesty and spectacular grace 

For these gifts of life anointed, as the entire world of god’s appointed

This smallest of miracles ~ purest in form

 As we adore, lust and mourn;

A most unexpected pair ~ from friendships thought-filled lair

And to this our love still grows… connecting strings of living clay,

Yet, I ask you to pause here my love, for this is not nearly the end,

This path divides; continues to flow and bend,

And what I must say is beyond this place,

Revealed in mystery ~ a lover’s true face

This love I must explain; no words, nor emotions remain

Neither past, nor future can claim

For grasping a cloud, or reaching your hand for a star,

 To touch the sun or dance with the moon

Is far more possible and would only happen to soon,

To say "this is our love today"

Our Love, I dare say ~ Powerful and Strong

Stands alone

We can only enter separately

You ~ Me

Family

Realized guests in a full array,

Participating joyfully in a peace-filled way

Wondrous awe inspired experiences and splendor

Light born in dark, no time, no space,

Only Love ~ Displayed.

Hi Todd. You have made magic here! The tune is as haunting as the words and the whole melds together at a truly sublime level. I read, read as I listened, then went back to read for a third time. There is an almost mystic theme to the poem, enhanced by the music, sure, but still there without the accompaniment. Love this, and it tells me the depth of your love for your wife. thank you for sharing this with me, alf

Todd, Your writing in this piece is impeccable. The lines of verse, how they reflect off of each other is stunning. I honestly have to flip through my thesaurus to find adjectives worthy of this written gemstone.
The piano brings the whole piece to fruition (I was going to say that it brings the piece together - - but it is ALREADY so together). I feel it's woefully inadequate to tell you that this is going into my library favorites. It should go into the Library of Congress. Someone should publish this piece. Immediately. Dan, thank you my friend, for your kindness. This was a poem of love with love, for love, and in my own mind still short of the expressions I wish to relay, but we strive for perfection in hopes that we create something beautiful, not perfection itself, for true beauty lies in the imperfections, but for the aesthetic of the art. As I indicated in my own review above, I feel there is more to be said about my personal love, and love in general, as I also believe that every poem in history together, leaves room to strive for ultimate expression, and so I continue on my journey through art now and for as long as I breathe, with gratitude and humility.
Thank you also for saying it should be published, it warms my heart, for I, as well as many others, dream of such things. (I have made it a personal goal to get one poem, or piece of writing published in 2015) This has been a lifelong dream for me, and I've kept it a secret for most of my life. I finally realized life is too short to keep secrets for long. I will continue to practice and put my work 'out there' for criticism and review in hopes that I will reach my dream.

I am fascinated by art. The way one see's another persons creation is a wonderful and amazing experience. I wrote this poem with the intention to express my love for my wife, something beyond first love, and love of family (particularly the birth of a child)... As always, I started from my sacred space... attempting to flush out all outside influences and distractions. When I create, I like it to come from an organic natural place within me, so the poem, (or whatever) is the most honest and true form it can be. Often times the final result is not what I initially intended; and I believe this may have happened again with this poem. For me it will always have the meaning I intended, but it also takes on a meaning of its own. (As does all true art) Upon revisiting this piece, I see it more in its entirety than I did when I wrote it and first posted it... for example the song I chose, Ser le fil, Composed by Yann Tiersen, from the film Amelie, meaning "Just in time", or "in the nick of time", is beautiful in my opinion, but changes the over-all meaning of the poem for me too, as well as reading comments from other's interpretations... I see the poem in a whole new way. I love this. Thanks to everyone for reading my work and interpreting it in a way that is meaningful to you personally. I am deeply grateful. Todd
