Thank Life For Life.
Four simple words.
A mantra of respect.
Wisdom and understanding.
Like the four directions:
North, South, East and West,
All encompassing.
Full of power and truth.
Giving and receiving,
Offering,
Agape.
A circle of consideration,
Taking only what is needed.
Paying homage.
Holding gratitude.
For everything connected,
Through science and the Spirit.
Beginnings and endings.
The Alpha and Omega.
From the micro to the macro,
Inside and out,
under the dirt and over the stars,
Life depends on Life to Live.
Fully,
Holy,
Soulful and sound,
Vibrations of thought,
Thunderous explosions,
Never ending expansion...
Minutiae.
The words from our lips,
The actions of past, present and future,
Thoughts aglow,
Feelings surrounding,
Created upon,
Life supporting Life.
So everyday awake,
Consume,
And sleep.
Living the four stages of consciousness,
From the silence in between, to deep sleep
And,
Into dreams; flowing out through, opened eyes-
breathe.
And quietly chant,
"I (breathe in) Thank (out) Life (in) for Life." (out)
This is beautiful. The four directions part, fully and holy, touched me. In my culture, (I'm a mutt of all sorts, but I was raised in powwow by my Mohawk grandmother), the four directions represent many things. The phases of life being the main. It's so integral to Native American culture that the Cherokee have a morning prayer sung to each direction. I remember singing it as a little girl with my intertribal powwow family.
Anyway, tangent aside, beautiful and peaceful.

I am honored to have touched you in some small way. I deeply respect the First Nations culture and people of every tribe and heritage. I wrote this as a mantra of sorts, a statement of everything I hold close to my own heart. I have always felt the need to hone it more, but if I ever get around to that I would simply write a new piece incorporating this into it, leaving my original untouched and as is, because it is so raw and expressive of my inner-most beliefs. Thanks again for taking the time to read my work and comment.
This poem was simply brilliant. I seriously adored everything about this. One of my favorites on this site!

If you would be so kind as to check out my completed manuscript, HIM, I'd truly appreciate it. I am planning to have it published but want the kinks fixed first. (Can't move forward without help from others!) Haha.

Todd, This piece is so DEEP that I hesitate to step too close to the edge. There is so much going on that I literally had to read it three times before I could piece together the point of the write...but when I did I was the one doing deep breathing exercises. This reads almost like a manifesto, an emptying of your belief system for all of us to inspect and grade. I have to give it a B (sorry, I thought that it was just a bit TOO busy). Well done. take care...dan
