a quest

a quest

A Poem by Ana B.

We share the sky…

Some dead, some living,

But who can verify

If life is still clinging

To that eerie heart

That unravels the night,

And drinks the salt

From the sea of light?

Just wanted to swim…

To the moon and back,

But I’m shackled to the whim

Of a weary, distrustful heart.

Please, love, keep playing

The holographic reverie,

Those jaded blues delaying

This lagging lethargy,

That took a hold of me,

While I search for the shackles’ key.

Wonderfully rendered, Ana🍷

Free Style poetry is among my favorite forms, and you've certainly made yours shine with spot-on line-breaks, uniquely original metaphor, splendid imagery, and wondrously placed syntax -- creating smooth as silk flows from a seasoned poetess' glowing pen.
Your soft poetic voice awakens my manly emotion's empathetic tenderness toward a lady whose heart has been bruised; yet, keeps ever close to her bosom the treasured hope of love's renewal.

There's no doubt, Ana, I'm still as smitten by your poetically blessed stories as ever.
Thank you ever-so warmly for sharing this genuinely lovely part of You! ⁓ Richard 🍃

[perfect artwork and music choices, too … truly touching]

Thank you Lady K. :))))))
The music moves me ...bookmarked him.

Seems we each have a "ring" of keys we bear to bare our selves. And if we dare... if...we...dare, well - "salty" coffee goes well at sunrises...

Once bitten twice shy. They say " tis better to have loved and lost. " which could be utter bullshit for all I know as I married my one true love 28 years ago.
If this you Ana then I hope your heart heals quickly and you find the shackles key :)
Good morning, enjoyed reading this piece.

Your time will come just got to get through the frog kissing stage first :)
Has the sound of one who has sustained a deep hurt and is now wary of anything that might replicate that pain. Yet there is the sense the speaker has not given up, is still searching for the key to the "shackles." If that key is found, perhaps the bruise will eventually be seen as a guidepost.

Quite the accurate insight, thank you John :)
there is sad beauty in these words...Blue moons and suffering...and the hope to be able to love without restraint once again.

unfortunately, when the dark side of the moon hits us...we tend to walk in the shadows longer than we ought to.

The question mark after "the see of light" forcefully reminded me of Alan Rickman's recital of The Faerie Queene. Enchanting rhythm, fitting imagerie, beautiful poem. Thank you.
