Remains

Remains

A Poem by Ana B.

There is no shame in fear.

But, wishing for things that aren’t here

                        is no point…

And as my heart walks through life, sincere,

I wish that my fear was renamed

yet some things we can’t avoid.

River of Heaven, Daughter of Life,

Blessings I gathered, yet I picked up the knife.

Sliced the apple, took a bite…

Aftertaste of shadows, while still craving the light…

So many steps taken without knowing the Path,

Certainly bewitched by the obsidian Wings of Wrath…

I wish I knew from the start

That Light and Darkness cannot be apart.

But like so many - I followed the false tutelary

And now… any echo of a truth would make me wary…

And if worlds do begin with words,

Which one would I choose?

Eve, the apple, tree of knowledge...and the knowledge life teaches us, and unfortunately the fear.
Paradise was lost at the beginning and thus we all have trials and tribulations to get through.
Fear is a must, but trust is also a must...and we just have to take comfort in knowing we do the best with the knowledge we have.
Light and Darkness too much alike, what is truth? what is truth?
a real "thinker" of a write here...I love how you challenge this reader with your words.
Thank you, Ana B.

Thank you for the lovely words my dear! :)
I loved the complete poem dear Ana. Fear, just a blocked doorway we must knock down.
"But like so many - I followed the false tutelary

And if worlds do begin with words,
Which one would I choose?"
The above lines. a question, we must answer often in a long life. Better to decide the road you love. You will find peace waiting. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

This is drama etched with deep thought, faith - I think, and perhaps indelible intuition. But, not entirely sure how you understand the need for an open mind, that means wearing down emotional strength and the hope that goes with it. Perhaps. Being defiant is part of hope, although hard at times. I think your poem shows a great deal of courage. Hugs.

Hello and hugs back at you. Take care, dear friend.. and, please - stay safe. :)
how about "Let there be Light" ;)))))))))))))))))))))))))) Certainly darkness and Light are both in and on the Earth and our lives .. i don't think they can co-exist however.... i think they are strong polar opposites .. i like to refer to the Bible as a good source and in it .. the only time the "Darkness" entered into the "Light" after the fall .. is when Satan challenged God because Satan had tempted so many away from Truth .. God pointed to Job as being a righteous man and Satan in the end received permission to temp Job in any way he could but not to kill him ... well ... you probably know the rest of the story; but my point is .. Evil can not be in the presence of God .. he is without effort by God, repelled away by his own dark evil ... what a stimulating poem to read this morning Ms. Anna B. ...i love the freedom in your verse and sprinkling of rhyme but the theme is right down me alley .. love that stuff .. so many things affect our beliefs .. the "tutelage" especially hits home for me ... i was born and raised a Catholic .. very strict back in the 50s and most of the 60s ... great song choice .. love the ride through rural America .. had not heard of Ruby; but sounds like MWard a lot .. great stuff .. thanks for sharing
