Truthful pretense

Truthful pretense

A Poem by Ana B.

Sweet darkness, timidly

play your ghostly notes

Of this unfinished symmetry,

As I live on borrowed quotes.

Tears of liquid sovereignty inside -

Forever unspoken tales…

Behind bogus happiness I hide

Chasing holographic trails…

And if the dead can dance

Why can’t I do it too?

Tempests of hollow romance

I have yet to subdue…

"...As I live on borrowed quotes."

Cliches and platitudes meant to soothe or calm us, it's easier to just smile and say "thanks" and finish in your head to yourself "...for nothing".

Beautifully done, especially with the artwork.
