Soulstice

Wandering star of my nights,

Shine through my poor lit home.

Lost the taste of those scanty delights

That warmed up the soul

                                                 that I have on loan…

 

And yet I listen -

To the cosmos gossip in the rain,

To the sugary rhymes that glisten

Down on this life, so insistently mundane.

 

It’s hard to see you happy, dear reflection

Not when you live in a head full of dreams;

Not when your heart finds an objection

To every thought that your mind so fixedly brings…

 

Is death a disease?

Or a figment of imagination…

I liked the artwork and the questions asked.

The above lines. Easy to fall into. I wondered often. What is the value of life and death? I believe we are just here for a second. Make the seconds worthwhile dear Ana. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Very thought-provoking! And the musicality of it would be utterly tuned to perfection were it not for the extra syllable in line 3 ("scant" is a word, and is often used poetically in such a way.....just a thought). Love the rhythm, the rhyme scheme, the imagery is grand, and that last question really puts it over the top! Well done!.....get rid of that one syllable and it would be perfection :)
